The Samalympics 2026 — Stars Collide officially opened on September 3, 2026, at the Babak Gymnasium. The monthlong activity is part of the local government’s celebration of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA).

Leading the celebration was City Mayor Lemuel T. Reyes, who joined LGU employees and personnel from various National Government Agencies (NGAs) in a vibrant parade that started at the Babak Night Market and culminated at the Babay Multipurpose Gym.

This year’s Samalympics brings together five competing teams, each inspired by celestial themes and represented by a distinct zodiac identity:

♈️ Aries Astral Rams
♉️ Ta**us Stellar Bulls
♐️ Sagittarius Galactic Archers
♌️ Leo Solar Lions
♏️ Scorpio Cosmic Stingers

Adding excitement to the activity, the five competing teams showcased their creativity, enthusiasm, and team spirit through the Mass Demonstration, Banner Raising, Bench Cheering, and Cosplay Competition.

The Samalympics 2026 serves as a venue for government employees to strengthen teamwork, build friendships, promote wellness, and foster a stronger sense of unity beyond the workplace.

The activity also reflects the spirit of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, which recognizes the dedication and valuable contributions of government workers in serving the Filipino people.

WB and Sofia Basketball Team, champion of the Kadayawan Invitational Basketball Tournament, extended their victory beyond the basketball through a community gift-giving activity on September 1, 2026, in Purok 6, Barangay Aundanao, Samal District, Island Garden City of Samal.

In coordination with PNP-IGACOS, the team distributed solar lights and grocery packs to the 50 identified household beneficiaries.

Moreover, in celebration of the Crime Prevention Week, PNP-IGACOS personnel conducted an information dissemination and lecture on the salient provisions of Anti-Rape, Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC), Anti-Kidnapping Safety Tips, Gangsterism, and other crime prevention topics to raise public awareness and strengthen community safety and security.

More than the clinched victory, the team proved that champions can inspire people on and off the court by extending generosity and compassion in the community.
