Grading will get underway this month for Creekside Crossing, a new 54-home residential development in Ramona.

The single-family homes are being built by Lennar Corp. at Robertson Street near La Brea and Pala streets, said Alex Plishner, the company’s senior vice president of land acquisition.

Plishner described the project to Ramona Community Planning Group members at their Aug. 1 meeting.

Construction of the homes is scheduled to start in January or February 2025. Then model homes will be open for viewing to prospective buyers in late summer next year, Plishner said. Home sales are expected to start to close in September or October 2025, he added,

The two-story homes will be three- and four-bedrooms with 2.5 or 3.5 baths, Plishner said. Sizes will range from 1,800 to 2,300 square feet and they will all have their own two-car garages and yard space, he said.

The 9.5-acre property will include recreation areas that will be maintained by the Creekside Crossing homeowner’s association, Plishner said. Featured will be pickleball courts, a children’s playground and a fenced dog park with shading. There will also be an overlook area with a scenic view of Santa Maria Creek and a trail on the south side of the property, he said.

A fire of unknown origin leveled a 25,000-square-foot poultry building, causing an estimated $2 million in damage Thursday at Pine Hill Egg Ranch in Ramona, Cal Fire officials said.

An estimated 70,000 chickens were reported to be in the building, but it is not known how many had been lost in the fire, officials said Thursday night.
