Clean Hands, Healthy Learners: Licuan-Baay Central School Promotes Proper Hygiene on Global Handwashing Day
LICUAN-BAAY, ABRA โ In celebration of Global Handwashing Day on October 15, 2026, the learners and faculty of Licuan-Baay Central School actively joined the worldwide observance anchored on the campaign theme, โBe a Handwashing Hero!โ
The event was led and initiated by District School Nurse Nesmarie Del Rosario, who spearheaded interactive demonstrations and educational sessions aimed at instilling proper hygiene practices among young learners.
Learners enthusiastically participated in step-by-step handwashing demonstrations using soap and clean water. Nurse Del Rosario emphasized that proper hand hygieneโparticularly scrubbing for at least 20 secondsโis one of the most accessible and effective defenses against preventable infectious illnesses such as diarrheal and respiratory infections.
"Teaching young learners to clean their hands properly doesn't just protect their health; it empowers them to lead by example and inspire their families and peers to build healthier habits," noted Nurse Del Rosario during the activity.
Through fun learning routines and hands-on activities, the learners pledged to champion clean habits both in school and at home, embodying the theme by stepping up as everyday "Handwashing Heroes" in their community.
The school administration lauded the initiative, reiterating its commitment to maintaining proper sanitation facilities and fostering a safe, health-conscious environment for all learners.
