The CEO of Kenya Fishing Industries Corporation, Dr. Mikah Nyaberi, accompanied by the Assistant Director Mr. James Ndiritu, attended a high-level strategic engagement forum with Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) at the KCB Leadership Centre in Nairobi. The purpose of the forum was Deliberate on financing and partnership opportunities within the blue economy and Maritime Sectors.
The forum was graced by Ms. Betsy Njagi, the Principal Secretary, State Department for the Blue Economy and Fisheries, and the Principal Secretary for Maritime Affairs, Aden Abdi Millah, alongside other Chief Executive Officers from State Agencies under the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs. These included Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI), Kenya Fisheries Service (KeFS), Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA), Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA), Kenya National Shipping Line (KNSL), Kenya Fish Marketing Authority (KFMA), and the Fish Levy Trust Fund (FLTF).
The engagement highlighted a strong pipeline of investment opportunities across fisheries and aquaculture, ports and logistics, shipbuilding and repair, marine tourism, and enabling infrastructure and technology. Participants emphasized the need for strengthened collaboration with financial institutions to unlock capital, drive sustainable growth, create employment, and uplift coastal and riparian communities while safeguarding marine and freshwater ecosystems.
