Now that was an incredible sight ✈️

Yesterday’s Freedom of Entry Parade for 7 Wing Australian Air Force Cadets was a morning of pride, celebration and tradition.

More than 1,000 cadets marched through the city, along Riverside Drive and into formation at Langley Park, where they were met by cheers from spectators lining the streets.

The City of Perth was honoured to welcome this proud military tradition, marking 10 years since the City last granted No. 7 Wing AAFC the Freedom of Entry honour 💙

The iconic bronze Peter Pan sculpture at Queens Gardens is looking shiny and new ✨

A replica of the famous Peter Pan statue in Kensington Gardens, London, our sculpture is one of only seven replicas made from the original mould.

The sculpture recently received its regular conservation wax treatment – an important part of preserving these much-loved public artworks for future generations.

Every 12–18 months, our sculptures are carefully cleaned before a conservation-grade wax is applied and buffed into the bronze surface by hand. The wax provides a protective layer, helping shield the sculptures from Perth’s weather, pollution and the many hands that touch them.

While bronze naturally changes over time when exposed to the elements, regular maintenance helps slow corrosion, protect the patina and keep the sculpture looking its best.

Treatments like this play an important role in caring for the City’s public art collection and ensuring these much-loved pieces can be enjoyed for years to come.

With the next residential bulk verge collection taking place on Monday 14 September, do you know how to dispose of your unwanted items safely and correctly?

Before placing electrical items on the verge:
• Cut and remove all power cables.
• Where possible, remove batteries and take them to a battery drop-off location.

🔋 Batteries can be easily dropped off at one of the conveniently located battery recycling points, found through our Recycle mate tool: https://perth.wa.gov.au/residents/rubbish-waste-and-recycling

Help us keep our verges safe and make sure your waste is disposed of responsibly.
