A 4th generation farmer and rancher, my family is of Germans from Russia descent and homesteaded here in North Dakota. Minot has been my home for more than 30 years now, since my days at MSU. My tribe consists of my beautiful wife and daughter, Amy and Kacee, our energetic Rusty Dog, cuddly Feline siblings Harry and Lelo, and lastly, Ryder the Blue, a fish named for Amy's hometown! Amy is also from a North Dakota homesteader family, but on the Norwegian end of things! I have worked in Agricultural-Agronomy Sales for more than 20 years and I commute part-time to the farm in Turtle Lake. Community and youth are important to me and I remain very active volunteering for the YMCA and the MSU Athletic programs. I am looking forward to serving in public office and in hearing where you'd like to see Ward County headed! Over 2,000 fans packed the Pepsi Rink at MAYSA to help celebrate Military Appreciation Night and cheer on the Beavers men’s hockey team to a 4-1 win over the University of Mary.

“Minot State University appreciates our long-standing partnership with Minot Air Force Base, and we wish to express our gratitude by hosting Military Appreciation Night during Saturday’s Beaver hockey game,” said Steven Shirley, president of Minot State University. “This event is the second of three athletic events planned over a one-year period to continue strengthening our commitment to Minot Air Force Base and its mission.”

“Thank you to Minot State University for hosting Military Appreciation Night and to Town & Country Credit Union for their generous support of this event,” shared Kevin Black, Minot Area Chamber EDC 2023 Board Chair. “Our sincere appreciation goes out to the men and women who serve our country. Minot isn’t Minot without the military families who make our community home, and we are forever grateful for their service and sacrifices.”
