Dear Interactors around the world,
this has been an exciting year. You have accomplished the most fascinating projects, you have stepped up in situations where others needed our help and you have grown in and with your clubs – through active enrollment in club activities or through the offices and positions you accepted to fill this year. Thank you so much!
The Rotaract and Interact Committee usually works in the background trying to bring your ideas on the organization of Interact to the headquarters in Evanston, giving recommendations to the Board of Directors and possibly influencing the do’s and don’t’s in the Code of Policies. This year, we have been 10 members from every continent bringing together all your different points of views. Thank you for all your wonderful input.
I would just like to share one point from the decision of the Board of Directors highlighting the growing support for Interact and the other programs on the international level:
“DECISION: The Board
5. agrees that, through Rotaract and Interact, Rotary clubs invest in young leaders, and that the sponsor Rotary clubs hold important responsibilities for guidance, mentorship, and support of Rotaractors and Interactors;”
There have been wonderful initiatives that could be recognized this year:
the 2015 Interact Video Awards "Best Video" Award winners: Congratulations to the Interact Clubs of Aquinas, Central, Logan, Holmen and West Salem (USA) and to the three amazing Runners-Up, the Interact Clubs of Hugh Boyd Secondary (Canada), North Balwyn (Australia), and Geethaanjali (India)! Besides, the Rotaract Outstanding Project Award has shown how wonderful, inspiring and effective the projects are that Rotaractors accomplish around the world. The award ceremony, which was broadcasted live on social media from the Rotaract Pre-Convention in South Korea reached more than 130,000 people around the globe. Congratulations to our global winner, the RAC of Bugolobi in Uganda for their project ‘"1000 smiles" Kanabulemu Edition’. Finally, we had a wonderful Rotaract Pre-Convention with more than 300 people joining us in Korea for workshops and plenary session as well as lots of networking – and we reached more than 100,000 people around the world (through the livestreams on facebook of the Rotaract-group, the Big West MDIO and the Rotaract Deutschland Komitee MDIO). As Interactors, you’re always more than welcome to join us here!
That’s why, we, the members of the Rotaract and Interact Committee thank you very much for all that you have done last year to make Interact great! Interact ist based on the individual effort for the greater good of the group. Thank you – each and everyone of you – for being a gift to the world!
For the coming year, we wish the new Committee a great time and best of luck – knowing that wonderful Rotaractors and Rotarians are members again and wishing the new Co-Chairs Tommie Buscemi and Laura Verdegaal all the best. They are wonderful – they will be glad to be in touch with you.
We look forward to seeing you next year again and again, while we’re – together – serving humanity.
