Faleminderit Kosovë!

Dear partners, colleagues and friends, after two years of my tenure as the Dutch Ambassador to Kosovo, I share my farewells with you.
I leave looking back on the last two years full of achievements, inspiring engagements, bilateral relations strengthened and deepened, new networks created, and most of all - welcomed everywhere by the wonderful people of Kosova.

Kosovo is still a young democracy, and I look forward hearing about its future successes, maturity as it grows as a country, and look for the next news in Olympic Judo Medals, Female Film Directors breakthroughs internationally, or hosting of 🇽🇰 artistic interventions in the Netherlands.

The pictures shared are just a glimpse of reflection underlining that with motivation, passion and the right team by your side, one can achieve a lot.
I leave with a heavy heart . . . all the best, until we meet again.

Great to have signed another contract under the 2026 MATRA Fund, this time with a consortium of non-governmental organizations led by Civil Rights Program Kosovo (CRPK).

As Kosovo increasingly engages with foreign workers, it is in the shared interest of Kosovo and the Netherlands to support strong institutions, fair labour practices, and effective migration governance. The project will strengthen the capacities of institutions and civil society working in this field, while supporting the socio-economic integration and protection of foreign workers.

We look forward to working closely with CRPK and its partners and to supporting the project in achieving lasting and meaningful results.

Project Visit
The Embassy of the Netherlands in Kosovo team visited the Krusha Cooperative, founded by women from Krusha e Madhe and led by Fahrije Hoti.

🔸We had the opportunity to see firsthand the production process of pickled vegetables, 80% destined for export to the EU.
🔸The inspiring story of the women from Krusha e Madhe and their journey from its establishment as local Ajvar producer, to its achievements today as an agriculture cooperative, and the ambitious plans to expand production in the future shows that “when women are empowered, communities grow stronger and opportunities multiply.”
🔸We were honored to hear the history of cooperative firsthand from Fahrije herself, a story of dedication, courage, and bravery.

Through discussions with municipal representatives, we looked at what stands in the way of more inclusive and accountable local governance and what can help move it forward.

From greater participation of women in public life and decision-making, to stronger citizen engagement and better access to public information, each municipality highlighted priorities for making local governance more responsive to the people it serves.
