SATUIATUA COMMUNITY DISASTER AND CLIMATE RISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (CDCRM), 27 – 30 APRIL 2026.
Satuiatua village in Savaii has successfully completed the 4-day-Community Disaster and Climate Risk Management (CDCRM) Program last week from Monday 27th – Thursday 30th April, 2026.
The program contributed to the capacity building of the community in identifying hazards they are vulnerable to, recognize the assets and strengths within community to withstand these challenges as well as introducing key agencies to reach out to in times of real-life disaster. The program has significantly strengthened the collaboration of government, non-government agencies and the people in the community.
To wrap up the four day program, the community participated in a tsunami exercise, to simulate what they have learned throughout the week and to instill a sense of responsibility that the safety of their own community is in their hands.
The successful implementation of the Satuiatua CDCRM was made possible through the continuous collaboration of the CDCRM agencies, and the ever-generous support of the MĀLÕ Project, funded by the Australia High Commission Community Grants, and implemented by ADRA Samoa (Adventist Development & Relief Agency).
