Heartbeat Vietnam Heartbeat Vietnam, a program of the VinaCapital Foundation, funds life-saving heart operations for the most financially disadvantaged children in Vietnam.

The VinaCapital Foundation was created in 2006 with the mission of alleviating poverty and raising the status of the poor in Vietnam through medical and education programs. VCF is an American, not-for-profit organization and fully tax-deductible 501 (c)(3), and licensed as an international NGO in Vietnam. The VinaCapital Group, Vietnam's largest investment fund, generously covers all of the founda

tion's overhead, so VCF has no administration expenses. That means that 100% of all donations go directly to our program work. Heartbeat Vietnam, a program of the VinaCapital Foundation, funds life-saving operations for the most financially disadvantaged children in Vietnam. A recent study of heart surgery in Vietnam estimated that there may be as many as 20,000 children waiting at any given time to receive heart surgery. Many of these children will die waiting for help. Many are never diagnosed. To ensure early intervention and a lasting recovery for our beneficiary children, Heartbeat Vietnam includes four affiliated programs.

• Since 2006, Heartbeat Vietnam has provided life-saving heart surgeries for over 7,000 disadvantaged children and assisted over 500 families with family grants for nutrition and transportation and continuing care grants for at-risk children.

• Since 2007, Outreach Clinics for Cardiac Care have examined over 159,000 children in 44 provinces offering free diagnosis including cardiac ultrasounds and post-operative check-ups, identifying over 8,500 children suffering from congenital heart defects and placing over 6,200 on the cardiac surgery waiting list.
