✨ USTH SIGNS TWO COLLABORATION AGREEMENTS WITH INSA LYON ✨

On February 19, 2025, right after launching its first International Research Project (IRP), USTH took another significant step in expanding its strategic partnerships in France by signing two key collaboration agreements with the National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon (INSA Lyon)—one of France’s top-ranked Grande Écoles in engineering education.

🎯 The two agreements include:

🔹 Strategic cooperation framework agreement – Establishing a foundation for academic exchange, scientific research collaboration, and innovation initiatives between the two institutions.

🔹 Student exchange agreement – Offering USTH students the opportunity to study and gain experience at INSA Lyon, while also welcoming INSA Lyon students to engage in exchange programs and research at USTH.

Beyond student exchange, this partnership also opens doors for research collaboration in energy transition, climate change, environment, and health sciences—key strategic fields for both institutions.

USTH is currently exploring the development of engineering training programs, and INSA Lyon’s model serves as a great benchmark for reference.

This agreement marks a major milestone in USTH’s strategy for advancing engineering education, reinforcing its position among leading science and technology universities, and creating expanded opportunities for international learning and research for both students and faculty.

🔥USTH launches its first international research project on hydrogen production through photo-electrolysis of water

📍On February 17, 2025, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) officially launched its first International Research Project (IRP) in collaboration with Institute of Materials Science (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) and two leading laboratories in France: the Laboratory of Chemistry and Biology of Metals (LCBM UMR 5249 CNRS/CEA/Université Grenoble Alpes) and the Coordination Chemistry Laboratory (LCC UPR8241 CNRS/Université de Toulouse).

🔹Bringing together 26 researchers from both countries, the project focuses on solar hydrogen production – a strategically significant area for Vietnam in its pursuit of sustainable and clean energy solutions, supporting a green economic transition.

📍The project aims to develop a robust and efficient photo-electrochemical cell capable of splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using solar energy. Green hydrogen, produced via water electrolysis, is considered a key driver of the global energy transition.

[ ] Meeting between USTH and Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom, on 17/10/2024
✨ During the visit to USTH, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest and representatives of relevant departments discussed with representatives from the Lyell Centre, Heriot-Watt University, regarding potential training programs and research projects. Department of Water – Environment – Oceanography (WEO) is currently offering bachelor and master programs in environmental science, with several prominent research directions such as: assessing and monitoring pollutants in soil, water, and air; studying the impacts of pollutants on ecosystems; and researching ocean physics and the transport of pollutants from the continent to the ocean. These research directions align closely with those at the Lyell Centre, creating a foundation for the two sides to discuss and agree on enhancing future research cooperation and academic exchange. Notably, USTH students will gain the opportunity to intern or participate in exchanging the short-training programs at the Lyell Centre.
