The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism is committed to community development and engagement in many meaningful ways. Today, our Communications Specialist, Sheniqua Robinson, participated in a panel discussion as part of the "Girl Ignite Your Fire – Teen Summit and Cultural Exchange," a week-long summit dedicated to uplifting, empowering, and encouraging young women.

Today's session featured an intergenerational discussion that fostered meaningful conversations about challenges, leadership, opportunities, personal growth, and the experiences of young women across different generations. The three panelists shared valuable insights drawn from their personal and professional journeys, offering guidance and inspiration to attendees. The discussion concluded with an engaging Q&A session, providing participants with the opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and further connect with the panelists.

The Department of Tourism is proud to support initiatives that invest in the development of young women and create spaces for mentorship, dialogue, and empowerment within our community. 🇻🇮

During moments like these, community matters most.

We appreciate local hospitality partner Pink Palm Hotel for stepping up to support residents impacted by the ongoing island-wide outage by offering accommodations and access to a safe, comfortable space to recharge, cool off, connect to Wi-Fi, or stay overnight.

This is what community partnership and Virgin Islands hospitality look like. Thank you to our tourism stakeholders who continue finding ways to support residents during challenging moments.

Residents are encouraged to contact them directly for availability and details.

Stay safe, St. Thomas. ❤️🇻🇮

The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism proudly congratulates all 2026 Government of the Virgin Islands Employee of the Year honorees and nominees across our territory. Public service is rooted in dedication, professionalism, sacrifice, and a genuine commitment to serving our people and communities with excellence.

Today’s “Tourist for a Day” Island Tour and Luncheon, hosted through the collaborative efforts of the Division of Personnel USVI and the Department of Tourism, provided a well-deserved opportunity for appreciation, fellowship, relaxation, and the celebration of those who continue to make a meaningful impact through public service.

We also extend sincere appreciation to the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation for their accommodation and partnership in helping make today’s experience a success.

The Department of Tourism is especially proud to recognize our 2026 DOT Employees of the Year:

✨ Iyahnna Hiss, Social Media Specialist
✨ Nicole George-Petersen, Director, Visitors of Experience STT/STJ

Both honorees continue to exemplify professionalism, leadership, creativity, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to the mission of the Department and the people we serve.

We also commend Nicole George-Petersen for the exceptional leadership and coordination she provided for today’s luncheon activities in the St. Thomas/St. John District alongside Commissioner Jennifer Matarangas-King and members of our DOT team. Her dedication, organization, and attention to detail helped create a warm and memorable experience for all in attendance.

Recognition such as this serves as an important reminder that public service is ultimately about people — the communities we serve, the experiences we help create, and the responsibility we carry as stewards of public trust.

Congratulations again to all of this year’s honorees and nominees. Thank you for your continued commitment, service, and contributions to the Virgin Islands community. 🇻🇮
