Today, we proudly recognize and honor the five women police officers who serve at our agency. Each of these incredible women plays an instrumental role in our department and in the community we are privileged to serve.

They lead by example, serve with honor, integrity, compassion, and respect, and continually strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others. They are not only police officers; they are mentors, leaders, advocates, problem-solvers, and role models for the young women and girls watching them.

Law enforcement continues to evolve, and women are an essential part of that future. We are committed to building an agency that reflects the community we serve, creating opportunities for women to lead, and encouraging the next generation to see law enforcement as a career where they can make a meaningful difference.

To the women who wear the badge; Thank You! Thank you for your courage, dedication, strength, and the sacrifices you make every day. Thank you for breaking barriers, opening doors, and showing others what is possible.

And to the young women in our community who may be considering a career in law enforcement; we see you, we believe in you, and there is a place for you in this profession!

The annual Zionsville Fall Festival Parade is happening today! We want to give everyone a quick reminder about the parade route, parking restrictions, and road closures so you can plan accordingly.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲:

Zionsville Community High School → Mulberry Street → Ash Street → Main Street → Old National Bank parking lot

𝗡𝗢 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗘 𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝟴:𝟬𝟬 𝗔𝗠.

𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗦 𝗕𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗧 𝟴:𝟯𝟬 𝗔𝗠.

Please plan ahead, allow extra time, avoid parking along the parade route after 8:00 AM, and use caution around road closures, pedestrians, and parade participants. Officers will be working along the parade route to help ensure the safety of spectators and participants.

Most importantly, come out and enjoy the Zionsville Fall Festival Parade!

We would like to thank the Zionsville Lions Club for hosting this wonderful event, as well as the Zionsville Fire Department, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and Boone County Communications Center for assisting with this annual Zionsville tradition.

Today, the Zionsville Police Department Honor Guard, alongside the Zionsville Fire Department Honor Guard, gathered for a 9/11 remembrance ceremony to honor and remember the lives forever changed by the tragedy of September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless families and communities forever impacted by that day.

We remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice. We remember the families who lost loved ones. We remember the courage, unity, and strength that emerged from one of our nation’s darkest days.

Today, and every day, we honor their memory.

Never Forget.

The 2026 Zionsville Police Department Citizens Academy is underway! 🚓

Our newest class kicked off last week with an introduction to ZPD, time with our Citizens Academy staff, and K9 demonstrations.

Over the next several weeks, participants will get a behind-the-scenes look at different areas of law enforcement, including accident reconstruction, criminal investigations, emergency vehicle operations, de-escalation tactics, OWI investigations, fi****ms, crime scene investigations, and drone operations before graduation in October.

We’re looking forward to a great academy and giving this year’s class a closer look at the work our officers do each day.

Captain Klykken is nearing the finish line of an incredible training experience at the FBI National Academy.

We’re proud to have him representing the Zionsville Police Department and our community at this prestigious program. Congratulations, Captain Klykken! Keep pushing to the finish!

Six Hoosier law enforcement leaders are currently taking part in FBI National Academy Session #299, joining law enforcement leaders from across the country and around the world for 10 weeks of advanced training, leadership development and professional networking.

This morning, Mayor Stehr had the honor of swearing in Officer Joshua Taylor and Officer Austin Ferguson as the newest members of the Zionsville Police Department.

Joining ZPD is a significant accomplishment. Our department has an extensive hiring process that includes successfully completing a physical fitness assessment, background investigation, interviews, and more. We’re proud to share that both Officer Taylor and Officer Ferguson successfully made it through the process and are now officially part of the ZPD family!

We’re grateful to have these two officers serving our community and look forward to the positive impact they will make in Zionsville. Please join us in welcoming them!

This week, the Zionsville Police Department recognized several members of our agency for their outstanding service, professionalism, and dedication to our community.

Officer Holtz was presented with the Distinguished Service Award, while Officer Heffner, and Officer Hole each received a Letter of Commendation for their swift response to a medical emergency involving a person in cardiac arrest. Upon arriving on scene, the officers immediately began providing lifesaving care, including CPR, until they were able to transfer patient care to the Zionsville Fire Department. Their quick thinking, teamwork, and decisive actions helped give the patient the best possible chance for survival.

Also recognized with a Meritorious Service Award were Sergeant Joe Dennemann, Detective Nic Ruby, Officer Josh Stutesman, and Officer Matt Deeter for their exceptional response to a person experiencing a mental health crisis. Their quick actions, professionalism, and compassion while responding to a person in immediate need were instrumental in saving the individual's life. Their response exemplifies the dedication our officers bring to every call for service.

In addition, Lieutenant Adrian Martin was recognized for 20 years of dedicated service with the Zionsville Police Department. Throughout his tenure, Lt. Martin has been instrumental in the success of several divisions, including Patrol, the School Resource Unit, and the Crime Lab. His leadership, experience, and commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact on our department and the community we proudly serve.

The Zionsville Police Department is incredibly proud of the men and women who serve our community each day and consistently go above and beyond to help ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors. Our officers regularly train to respond to medical emergencies, provide lifesaving care, and assist individuals experiencing mental health crises so they are prepared when our community needs them most.

We want to thank every member of the Zionsville Police Department for the professionalism, compassion, and commitment they demonstrate each day. Your dedication to serving others is what makes our department and our community stronger.

Last night, we joined our public safety partners and neighbors from across Boone County for National Night Out 🚓

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to meet our officers, ask questions, explore the police vehicles and equipment, and spend time getting to know the people behind the badge. Events like these remind us that building relationships is one of the most important parts of keeping our community safe.
