The past week, Fire Chief James VanGorder and Deputy Chief of Operations Aaron Gibbons completed a 3-Day Leadership training held at the Gettysburg Battlefield. While traveling back to Zionsville, the chiefs also stopped at the National Fire Academy and the Fallen Firefighters Memorial to pay respect to all of the fallen, including ZVFD Firefighter Neall Noble who lost his life in the line of duty May 27th, 1964.

The Zionsville Fire Department is conducting a Paramedic-Only hiring process. This means you have to hold an active Indiana Paramedic License or National Registry Paramedic certificate or possess one by September 1, 2026!

At approximately 2:50 am, Zionsville Firefighters along with crews from Whitestown and Pike Twp. Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of Chauncey St and Johnson Rd in Zionsville on a mobile home fire. Crews arrived to find a construction trailer fully involved by fire. After deploying several hoses, the fire was under control in 20 minutes.

No one was at the site at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

🚒 Lateral Transfers Encouraged
Applications will be used to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list for future hiring opportunities. One year of service credit for every 2 years in PERF.

📋 Minimum Requirements
• Hold an active Indiana Paramedic License OR an active National Registry Paramedic certification
• Enrolled in Paramedic Program with a Graduation date by September 1, 2026.
• Be at least 20 years of age and less than 40 years of age on the date of hire, unless already a member of the 1977 Police Officers’ and Firefighters’ Pension and Disability Fund
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Valid driver's license

🏋️ CPAT Requirement
A valid CPAT certification with a completion date after August 1, 2025. Certification must be submitted by 4:00 PM on August 1, 2026.

Zionsville Firefighters are currently on the scene on I-65 SB at the 129 mile marker on a motor vehicle collision. The fast lane southbound is currently closed just before the I-865 exit as crews work on the scene

In addition to what’s below, burning of allowed materials must be done in a non-combustible container that is vented and has enclosed sides, a bottom, and a mesh covering.

All fires shall be extinguished if they create a hazard, nuisance, pollution problem, or a threat to public health or property.

Today, Mayor Stehr, Chief VanGorder, ZFD firefighters and members from town and fire department administration gathered at Station 293 to remember and honor the sacrifice of Zionsville Volunteer Firefighter Neall Noble who died in the line of duty, 62 years ago, while responding to a motor vehicle fire on May 27, 1964.
