Teachers and staff made the most of Wednesday’s Institute Day, starting with guest presenter Ken Williams and his presentation, Unfold the Story, then moving into large- and small-group sessions tailored to specific grade levels and district roles. Staff also explored LinkIt, a districtwide assessment platform, completed Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training, and participated in other valuable learning opportunities to support student success.

No School: Teacher Institute Day

All ZESD 6 schools will be closed to students on Wednesday, October 28, for a district-wide Teacher Institute Day. School will resume for students and staff on Thursday, October 29.

School Board Seats up for Election

Zion Elementary School District 6 will have three school board seats to be filled at the April 6, 2027, Consolidated Election.

Candidates for the office of school board can begin to circulate nominating petitions for signatures beginning August 25, 2026, through November 23, 2026. The period for filing nominating papers runs from November 16, 2026, through November 23, 2026.

ZESD 6 celebrated the principals and assistant principals who gave so much of themselves to support their students, staff, and families. We are grateful for their care, hard work, and the many ways they made a difference in the lives of others each day.

Learning Through Literacy kicked off Tuesday evening at the Zion-Benton Public Library, beginning a three-month book study centered on The Gratitude Express.

Through shared reading and engaging activities, students explored gratitude, mindfulness, kindness, and leadership while building connections through literacy. The program gave students a chance to reflect on these values and discover how to put them into practice in their daily lives.

ZESD 6 educators participated in personalized professional development designed to support their roles and strengthen student learning across the district.

Pre-K teachers and paraprofessionals attended a Behavioral Strategies and Inclusion session led by Board Certified Behavior Analyst Anita D’Abbraccio. The training provided an opportunity to build knowledge and strengthen strategies for supporting students’ diverse behavioral and learning needs.
