This is why and action is so important for a precision rifle - you can see the bolt face on this 700 action from the factory then as we progress through cutting it. The dark center around the firing pin hole isn't touched yet in the middle picture as the factory bolt is actually concave! The final picture shows it 100% cut true & perpendicular to the bore. Now imagine a case head resting on a concave bolt face with a sloppy factory chamber and you can understand the uphill battle you have with a factory rifle when seeking long range precision.
