Unfortunately, this year's(2025) picnic has been cancelled. Next year on Monday, Februuary 2, 2026 at 10:00 we will open the doors at the Lion's Club for the next chapter. Stay healthy!

This year's Jefferson County Picnic was held on Monday February 5. The doors opened at 10:00. Although the crowd was small, there were many reunions and meetings of long-time friends.

Our current president, Terry Baker was re-elected for another year and will be joined by three new officers. David Earl and "Charlie" Jeffers were elected to the positions of Vice-President and Treasurer, respectively, and Rebecca Cooper stepped up and volunteered for the open secretary position.

During the business meeting it was mentioned that we were trying to resolve a descrepancy in the money collected at the door. After the event was over and we had time to look deeper in to the situation, it was discovered that there was a $100 difference in the amount of money collected at the door. This was simply a counting error. There was $100 more there than was originally noted. We also realized that a couple of people apparently did not sign the attendance record! Everything balanced in the end.

It was also noted at the meeting that the minutes of the 2023 event were not available. They have been on the website for the past year but never got recorded in the secretary's records so were not available to be read at the picnic. We have left them on the site. Hey ALL you New Yorkers... The annual Jefferson County Picnic will be Monday February 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lions Club in Zephyrhills. Bring your food and drinks. There will be plenty of door prizes. It's only $5 at the door per person. See you all there.

Like clockwork, the first Monday in February is just a few weeks away and that signals it is time for the annual Jefferson County Picnic. Again this year we will gather at The Lions' Club at 5827 Dean Dairy Road in Zephyrhills on Monday the 5th. Doors will open at 10:00 with time to see old friends and make new ones. Lunch will be about noon. Admission is $5.00 to cover expenses. There will be door prizes, raffles, lottery tickets and lots of smiles. Lunch will not be provided but coffee will, so bring your lunch and maybe your own beverage. See you there.

This is an appeal to anyone who attends or plans to attend the Jefferson County Picnic in Florida. We need your help because the future of our organization is in jeopardy.

We went into last year’s event with a new president. A volunteer stepped forward and was elected to the position of secretary. Another agreed to take on the role of treasurer but wanted to “shadow” the current treasurer for one year to become comfortable with the duties. Both of these individuals also agreed to solicit donations so that we could provide a catered event like we have had in past years, pre-COVID. No one stepped up to fill the role of vice-president.

Since that time, the secretary has resigned and the other volunteer has determined that she will not be able to assume the duties of treasurer. As a result, after six years as treasurer, two of them also as acting secretary, I once again find myself taking on the secretary’s duties. Due to other obligations I have, I wanted to step down last year but agreed to stay on to mentor the new treasurer. I will, however, be resigning as of the February 2024 event.

The current president Terry Baker and I have discussed this and we feel that, with the help of about six people that have helped during the event for the past several years, we will be able to have the February 2024 picnic. However, if we do not get volunteers to step up and fill the three currently vacant officer positions, this 71st event may be the last.

These positions are not that time-consuming. You are looking at 3 or 4 hours a year, plus the day of the event. If anyone reading this feels that they can help our organization out, please private message me and we can discuss this.
