We are proud to announce our Educational Support Professional of the Year (ESPY) and Teacher of the Year (TOTY)!

Ms. Tante Colquitt, our ESPY winner, is our school counselor. She serves students at Ninth Grade Academy, Zebulon High School, and often Pike County Alternative Program (PCAP). She has been the counselor here at NGA for the past seven years, and with Pike County Schools in other roles many years before that!

Ms. Tara Riggs, our TOTY winner, has been a biology teacher here at NGA for 3 years, after many other years of teaching in another school system. In addition to teaching science to the students of our school, she also serves as a PCHS Flag Football and Girls Soccer coach!

We are very fortunate to have both of these ladies on the team here at NGA, working with our students!

Ruth's Restaurant sure showed up with a delicious lunch of BBQ sandwiches, chicken fingers, mac and cheese, baked beans, etc. for the last day of Teacher Appreciation Week! You should go try some for yourself.

In true Christ Chapel form, we were blown away by the generosity of the PC Owala drink bottles that they provided for each teacher! What an amazing surprise!

Ninth Grade Academy and Zebulon High School are so proud of the teachers who teach the young people of Pike County each day. These teachers love their students, and around the halls, the children of Pike often are not referred to as just "students," but usually you will hear teachers refer to them as their "kids." It is a calling, and our school system has some of the best educators around. THANK YOU!

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela

Lunch was an incredible charcuterie board provided by Forked, McLeRoy, Kevin Hurt, and Middle GA Fleet.

Finally, Pike Pools provided each staff member with their very own Nothing Bundt Cake for their On-the-Go dessert needs.

Tomorrow begins EOC Milestones Testing at Ninth Grade Academy. Tuesday through Thursday we will test Literature and Composition 2. Friday, we will test Biology. Algebra will be tested on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

All testing will take place in the morning, so it is important that your student arrive on time, ready to test, no later than 8:45. Since these tests will count for 20% of your student’s course grade, it is very important that they are rested and prepared to do their best. Testing sessions may not be interrupted for check-outs, so please plan accordingly.

Be aware that cell phones, Apple watches, earbuds, and other electronic devices are not allowed in the testing environment. Failure to follow stated testing procedures may result in school discipline as well as potentially invalidate test scores.

We look forward to another successful testing season here at Ninth Grade Academy, and we thank you for your support!

Chris Vitiello, Poet Laureate of Durham, NC better known as The Poetry Fox, recently spoke with students at Ninth Grade Academy. He shared how he stumbled into an unexpected career path and encouraged students to remain open to new opportunities. During his visit, he highlighted several of his current projects, composed a poem in one minute on a vintage typewriter, and guided students through a writing adventure beginning with the words, “I remember…”

Good evening!

Due to the likelihood of inclement weather during normal arrival times, Pike County Schools has decided to delay the start of school tomorrow, Monday, March 16, by 2 hours.

This means that buses will pick up students 2 hours later than usual in the morning. At Ninth Grade Academy and Zebulon High School, parents may begin dropping off students at 9:30, and classes will actually begin at 10:45.

We will not be serving breakfast in the morning, although our lunches will run right on schedule.

Thank you for your flexibility as we strive to ensure that our students, families, and staff are as safe as possible.
