The National Weather Service and Texas Division of Emergency Management continue to monitor the potential for heavy rainfall across portions of South Texas, including Zapata County.

The National Weather Service continues to monitor the potential for scattered showers and thunderstorms across South Texas today.

The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a Flood Advisory for Zapata County, Jim Hogg County, and portions of Brooks County until 10:30 AM CDT due to heavy rainfall moving across the area.

🚨 Zapata County Weather Update - Tonight Into Wednesday Morning 🚨

Another round of strong to severe thunderstorms may develop late tonight into Wednesday morning across portions of Deep South Texas, including Zapata County.

According to the latest briefing from the National Weather Service Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley, the Storm Prediction Center has placed Deep South Texas under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather, with a Slight Risk extending into far northeastern Zapata County.

In addition, the Weather Prediction Center has expanded the Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall to include Zapata County through tonight.

🧊 Hail greater than 1 inch possible
