Congratulations to Jeff, and good luck this season boys!
ZANESVILLE - Blue Devil alumnus, Zanesville Community High School Principal, and longtime basketball coach Jeff Moore has accepted the position of head coach for the Zanesville boys basketball team.
“When you’ve coached this long, it’s almost surreal to be named the boys coach. It’s a full circle moment. I’m excited to bring some energy,” said Jeff Moore.
His main focus isn’t on completely changing the program, but rather building relationships.
“You want to come in and establish yourself, and just let them know you’re there for them,” said Moore. “I’m not going to try and put a whole new system in. The bottom line is they had some good success with Cedric last year. We’re going to be similar.”
Moore’s perspective on his players is a unique one. He’s covered these players on WHIZ’s AM 1240 their entire high school basketball careers.
“I’ve seen them play,” said Moore. “I know what they are and what they have so I don’t feel like I’m coming in with a completely clean slate.”
His staff will include additional Blue Devil alumni. Shane Hollins is joining the program as the Associate Head Coach. Mike Young is retaining his role, and Middle School coach Solomon Curtis is joining the high school program.
“They’re kid people, they’re relationship oriented just like I am. ... We’re going to stress we’re a family, we’re going to be together and we’re going to do the best we can this season.”
