✨ A NEW LOOK. THE SAME HEART. THE SAME MISSION. ✨

For 27 years, the Amberly’s Place logo has represented compassion, support, and hope for victims and survivors in our community. Today, we are incredibly excited to share the next chapter of our refreshed Amberly’s Place logo!

Back in December, we entered the New Year, New Yuma contest in hopes of giving our longtime logo a meaningful refresh. After considering nonprofits throughout our community, Amberly’s Place was selected as the 2026 winner!

From the beginning, we knew that our new look needed to honor our history while better reflecting who we are today and the people we serve.

Every color was chosen with purpose:

💜 Purple represents domestic violence awareness.

🩵 Teal represents sexual assault awareness.

💙 Blue represents child abuse awareness.

And one important piece remains the iconic child and adult hands from our original logo. Those hands have been part of our identity for 27 years, and carrying them forward honors our history while welcoming the future.

Our look may be brighter and our colors a little different, but our heart and mission remain the same: Amberly’s Place empowers victims and survivors to seek help for abuse, violence, and exploitation through trauma-informed advocacy, coordinated care, and compassionate support. We believe every person is worthy of dignity, safety, and hope—and that no one should face their journey alone. We are proud of where we started, grateful for how far we’ve come, and incredibly excited for what’s ahead.

Same heart. Same mission. A refreshed look for the future. 💜🩵💙

Tonight some of our team made a road trip to the Arizona State Capitol for the 12th Annual Lighting Arizona Purple Event. 💜
It was an honor to stand alongside advocates, survivors, community partners, and leaders from across Arizona as we came together to kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month and to shine a light on hope, healing, and help.
Tonight was a reminder that purple is more than a color.
It represents survivors who found the courage to ask for help. It honors those whose lives were taken by domestic violence. And it sends a message to those who may still be living in fear: you are seen, you are believed, and you are not alone. We are proud of our Amberly’s Place team, representing Yuma County and the work our community does every single day for victims and survivors.
There is still so much work to do. Tonight was a beautiful reminder that we are not doing it alone.
Together, we can . 💜

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Yesterday, first responders and law enforcement agencies from across Yuma County joined Amberly’s Place as we kicked off Domestic Violence Awareness Month by adding purple ribbons to their vehicles, a visible reminder that our community stands together against domestic violence.

Domestic violence affects millions of people across the United States. According to the CDC, more than 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime. Domestic violence can include physical and sexual violence, stalking, psychological aggression, and controlling behaviors.

Throughout October, these purple ribbons will serve as a reminder that domestic violence can happen in any community, and we all have a role in recognizing it and speaking up.

If you see it, hear it, or suspect domestic violence, report it. Reaching out for help or making a report can be an important first step toward safety.

Today we kicked off the 2nd Annual Domestic Violence Conference: Breaking the Silence, Building a Safer Tomorrow! 💜

Over the next two days, professionals from across our community are coming together to learn, connect, and strengthen the way we recognize, respond to, and prevent domestic violence.

A special thank you to Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot for helping us kick off the conference and sharing the powerful message behind the Man Up Crusade. The Crusade encourages men to take an active stand against domestic violence and reminds us that prevention starts with speaking up, challenging harmful behaviors, and being part of the change.

We also want to give a special thank you to the Yuma Police Department, Yuma County Attorney’s Office – Victim Services, and Arizona Western College Police Department for their continued partnership and support of our Domestic Violence Conference. We are incredibly grateful to have community partners who continue to show up, collaborate, and support this important work year after year.

Seeing a room filled with law enforcement officers, advocates, prosecutors, healthcare professionals, behavioral health providers, and community partners is a great reminder that this work doesn’t belong to just one agency or profession.

It takes relationships. It takes trust. And most importantly, it takes all of us working together.

Our shared goal is simple: safer victims, stronger families, and a safer tomorrow.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Day One. We’re looking forward to another great day of learning, conversation, and collaboration tomorrow! 💜

🌳💚 Our backyard is coming to life!

We are incredibly thankful to the wonderful team from Lowe’s who spent their morning at Amberly’s Place planting trees and shrubs. Their time, hard work, and generosity are helping turn this backyard into something truly special for the victims we serve.

This peaceful outdoor space will give victims an opportunity to step outside, get some fresh air, and simply have a moment to breathe.

Our backyard is scheduled to be completed by this weekend, just in time for the cooler weather! 🌿

We are so grateful to Lowe’s for helping us bring this vision to life and for continuing to support Amberly’s Place and our mission. 💙

What an incredible opportunity to represent Amberly’s Place and Yuma County in Washington, D.C. at the Police Executive Research Forum’s National Meeting on Promising Practices in Domestic Violence Response.

Amberly’s Place Executive Director Tori Bourguignon had the privilege of joining law enforcement leaders, advocates, staff from the Office on Violence Against Women and Office for Victims of Crime, researchers, prosecutors, and other professionals from across the country for an important conversation: How do we strengthen our collective response to domestic violence and improve outcomes for survivors?

One message came through again and again: trust and relationships matter.

True multidisciplinary collaboration doesn’t happen simply because agencies sit at the same table. It happens because people invest in relationships, build trust, understand and respect each other’s roles, and know that when it matters most, everyone will show up and do their part.

Those relationships are absolutely critical to serving survivors well.

We were incredibly proud to share some of what that looks like here in Yuma County and our surrounding communities. We certainly don’t have all the answers, but we have spent years building strong relationships across disciplines, agencies, and jurisdictions. Law enforcement, Department of Child Safety, prosecutors, victim advocates, forensic medical professionals, behavioral health providers, and community partners each bring something essential to the table.

No single agency can do this work alone, and victims should never have to navigate disconnected systems by themselves.

We’re coming home with new ideas, new connections, and an even greater appreciation for the incredible partners we have the privilege of working alongside every day.

Grateful for the invitation. Grateful for the opportunity to learn and contribute. And incredibly proud to represent Amberly’s Place, Yuma County, and the multidisciplinary partners who make this work possible.
