Multi-Agency Pursuit Leads to Arrest Following Officer-Involved Shooting

Today (April 30, 2026) at approximately 12:20 p.m., in the area of Nuestro Road and Tierra Buena Road in Yuba City, Sutter County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to stop a GMC Yukon associated with a suspect who had an outstanding Butte County arrest warrant for kidnapping and lewd acts on a child. The suspect, Michael Ginn, 46 of Oroville, considered armed and dangerous, failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit traveled through multiple jurisdictions, including portions of Sutter, Butte, and Yuba Counties. Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the pursuit, including deputies from the Sutter and Yuba County Sheriffs’ Offices and California Highway Patrol officers from the Yuba-Sutter and Oroville areas. CHP air units also helped with the incident, including Air 11 from the Northern Division and H20 from Valley Division.
The pursuit continued from Marysville up to Brownsville. As Ginn approached the Dollar General in Brownsville, he drove over the curb at a high rate of speed to avoid a spike strip. Ginn drove toward Yuba County Sheriff’s Deputies, who were outside of their vehicles in the parking lot. Two deputies fired their duty weapons at Ginn. The vehicle was struck, but Ginn, who was not hit, continued to flee. The pursuit ended in a heavily wooded area off New York Flat Road in Forbestown. Ginn fled on foot and hid from the pursuing deputies.
The suspect was located and bitten by a Yuba County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and taken into custody on the Butte County arrest warrant. He is currently receiving medical treatment for the injuries he sustained, and will be booked into the Yuba County Jail. No law enforcement officers or other citizens were injured.
The Yuba-Sutter Officer Involved Shooting Investigation Team is now investigating the incident. This remains an active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
