βοΈπ₯ HEAT ADVISORY ISSUED FOR THE YREKA AREA π₯βοΈ
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Siskiyou County from 11:00 AM Sunday through 11:00 PM Tuesday.
π‘οΈ What to Expect
β’ High temperatures between 94Β°F and 104Β°F
β’ Overnight lows between 55Β°F and 65Β°F
β’ Affected communities include Yreka, Montague, Klamath River, W**d, Mount Shasta City, Dunsmuir, McCloud, and Hilt
β οΈ Hot temperatures can cause heat-related illnesses.
Protect Yourself and Others:
π§ Drink plenty of water throughout the day
π Spend time in air-conditioned buildings when possible
π³ Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day
π Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
π₯ Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and others who may be vulnerable to extreme heat
πΎ Ensure pets have access to shade and fresh water at all times
π Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle
Know the Signs of Heat Illness
β’ Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, dizziness, weakness, headache, nausea
β’ Heat Stroke: Confusion, loss of consciousness, hot dry skin, high body temperature
π¨ Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Call 911 immediately.
