Stuck on your research? We can help.

Whether you’re trying to figure out what your assignment is actually asking, find better sources, or make sense of “peer-reviewed” and “scholarly,” the Library Research Center is here for you.

Librarians can help you:
• Find and search for sources
• Evaluate information
• Find primary, secondary & scholarly sources
• Understand research terminology
• Cite and manage your sources
• Navigate library resources and websites
• Use basic tools like Google Docs and Microsoft Office

And you don’t need to have everything figured out before you ask!

Halle Library will have the following hours this Labor Day weekend:

Saturday: 9 a.m.–6 p.m.
Sunday–Monday: Closed

Normal hours resume Tuesday.

Online library services are available 24/7.

Fall 2026 Library Hours
We’re ready for another semester of studying, researching, reading, and everything in between. 💚

Here’s when you can find us at Halle Library this fall:

Sunday: 1:00 PM–10:00 PM
Monday–Thursday: 7:30 AM–10:00 PM
Friday: 7:30 AM–5:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM

And remember, our online resources are available 24/7.

Somewhere in between syllabus week and midsemester panic, we all have the moment where we brain-fog how to do some library stuff again.

Like...
how do I get that article I need?
where do I find course reserves?
where is this book?
can someone just scan this for me?

Good news: Halle Library has a how-to guide for all of that. It covers finding articles, books, media, course reserves, full-text access, requesting items, digitization requests, and more. Basically, if you need something for class, this guide can probably help you get there faster.

Some instructors place required textbooks, supplemental reading, and other course materials on reserve so students can borrow them for short periods of time.

Check with the Library Services Desk on the first floor of Halle Library to borrow them.

Before you buy textbooks, check Halle Library first. Through Halle Library’s Textbook Affordability Initiative, many assigned course materials are available online at no cost to EMU students. Search by course prefix to see what’s available before spending money on textbooks at guides.emich.edu/classbooks

Need a quiet place to study, meet with your group, hop on Zoom, or record a project? Halle Library has:

🎙️ Podcast Studios

Many spaces can be reserved in advance through the Halle Library website at emich.edu/library/services/rooms
Walk-in study spaces are also available. Plan ahead or just drop in when you need a spot to get things done.
