To our dispatchers: you are the first first responders. You are the steady voice in someone’s worst moment, and the lifeline that connects it all together. Our firefighters, law enforcement, and EMS personnel depend on you every single day—and we are grateful beyond words.

In support of Autism Awareness Month, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office would like to remind everyone about our free Autism Alert program.

🌈 ♾️ An Autism Alert is a form completed by a parent/guardian for someone with autism, added to the 911 system serving Lafayette Parish.

🌈 ♾️ When deputies respond to your home, they're alerted that someone with autism may be present, helping them respond with awareness and care in high-stress situations.

🌈 ♾️ To request an Autism Alert, call our Community Services Unit at 337-236-5657. All information is confidential and protected through HIPAA regulations. Forms must be completed in person.

Several viewers have reached out to KATC about burning gas at a site on Verot School Road near its intersection with Ambassador Caffery Parkway.

Today we were dispatched to help Judice Fire Dept with a large structure fire. Our members assisted with extinguishment and water supply utilizing our water tankers.
We were also kept busy through the evening with several other emergency calls in our fire district.

A house fire has been reported at the Bourque Road in Lafayette Parish. A KLFY News 10 crew is currently investigating the scene. More updates to follow.

A few days ago members assisted Youngsville Fire Department with a Commercial Fire Alarm at Saint Anne Catholic Church. Father Russo had wonderful things to say about all departments that responded that night. Thank you to our members for the quick response and thank you Father Russo for your kind words.

FIRE ALARM SCARE LAST NIGHT! Just before 9pm, the lights flickered off at Le Presbytere. It happened twice and had me wondering if Dr. and Mrs. Dupleix were finally coming to pay me a visit at their former home (smiles). Shortly after, I went into the Chapel to pray night prayer and then heard the doorbell ring, unusual at such a late hour of the night. Something was up! When I arrived at the door I saw our Youngsville Fire Department and a Church parking lot filled with fire trucks. My heart sank. I later learned that a breaker had malfunctioned on Bonin Street, causing the commotion and triggering the fire alarm in the New Church. Within minutes the Church was surrounded by the fire teams of Youngsville, Milton, and Broussard. I was impressed with the professional manner of the fire teams and their thorough search of the New Church. They were determined not to leave until the property was properly assessed. I wanted to publicly acknowledge the good work I witnessed last night. We are fortunate to live in a City of genuine caring people who take such good care of us. Capt. Matt Elmer has dedicated 21 years with NIFD and unfortunately his career had to be cut short due to health reasons. He is now recovering, but stuck with lots of unexpected medical expenses. His friends and family are hosting a fundraiser to help offset these expenses. Please consider donating. Reach out to us or any New Iberia firefighter for ticket purchases.
