🚨 Youngsville Middle School Safety Update
Just after midnight, the Youngsville Police Department was notified by the Lafayette Parish School Board after they became aware of a social media post containing a threat directed toward specific students and staff members at Youngsville Middle School.

YPD immediately began investigating the matter. As an added precaution, we have placed additional officers at the school to provide increased security.

At this time, the threat is not believed to be credible. However, we will continue working closely with school officials and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office to take appropriate precautions as the investigation continues.

The safety and security of our students and staff remains our top priority. We appreciate the cooperation and vigilance of our school community.

Happy Labor Day, Youngsville. Today we recognize the people whose work keeps this community running. The tradesmen and teachers, the nurses and shop owners, the crews who clock in before sunrise and the ones who lock up long after dark. Youngsville is built by people who show up, and we are proud to serve alongside every one of you.

Our officers are on duty today so families across town can enjoy the holiday. If you are traveling, give yourself extra time and never drive impaired. If you are hosting, keep an eye on the grill and on the little ones near the water.

👮‍♂️ Officer of the month Officer Jed Schaubert
Officer Jed Schaubert began his law enforcement career in 2011 with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a patrolman before transitioning to the Marine Division.

In 2015, Officer Schaubert joined the Youngsville Police Department, continuing his dedication to serving and protecting the Youngsville community.

Since 2021, Officer Schaubert has proudly served as a School Resource Officer, building relationships and supporting the students, families, and schools of Youngsville.

We are proud to have Officer Schaubert as part of the Youngsville Police Department and grateful for his continued commitment to our community. 💙

Another predator off our streets. The work never stops. Neither do we.

Officers arrested Jonathan Micah Ledoux, 41, of Youngsville, on the following charges:

- 2 counts Molestation of a Juvenile (Felony)
- 2 counts Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile (Felony)
- 2 counts Sexual Battery (Felony)

This arrest was made possible through the cooperation of the Youngsville Police Department and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office. This case remains active and under investigation. If you have information related to this case, contact us at 337-856-5931. We will always pursue those who prey on the children of this community. Always.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Youngsville Police Department Investigates Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash
Youngsville, Louisiana — On August 27,2026 at approximately 8:32 p.m., the Youngsville Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Savoy Road, within the city limits of Youngsville, Louisiana, in reference to a reported motor vehicle crash involving an electric scooter.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the caller, who was also the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash. The preliminary investigation determined that the operator of the electric scooter, identified as Kourtney Picou 30 years old of Youngsville, was traveling on a portion of the roadway that was dark. Picou was wearing dark clothing, and the electric scooter was not equipped with or displaying lights at the time of the crash.
Picou was transported from the scene by Acadian Ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Picou later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was evaluated at the scene . At this time, impairment or intoxication is not suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and as the investigation allows.
The Youngsville Police Department extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of Kourtney Picou during this difficult time.

Today, we celebrate Assistant Chief Kenny Duhon and an incredible 43 years in law enforcement. Assistant Chief Duhon began his career under Sheriff Listi, served under Sheriff Breaux, and retired under Sheriff Neustrom. From there, he went on to serve with the State Fire Marshal's Office before bringing his decades of experience to the Youngsville Police Department.

Four decades of showing up. Of protecting. Of leading by example. From his first day on the job to today, Assistant Chief Duhon has given his career to keeping people safe. We are proud to have him leading alongside us here at YPD.

Back to School Safety Message

School starts back this week. Here is what we are asking from all of you.

Before you post that first-day photo, look at the background and the sign. Skip the school name, the street sign, the house numbers, and your child's full name, grade, and teacher. Take the photo somewhere private and keep the details vague. Share the moment, not the map.

On the road, slow down. School zones are reduced speed for a reason, and kids walking and biking to school will step off curbs without looking. When a bus turns on its red lights and extends the stop arm, you stop, and on a two-lane road that means both directions. Ten seconds of your morning is not worth what you could lose.

Our officers will be out around our schools. We would much rather wave at you than write you.
