Today is Su***de Prevention Awareness Day. 💜

Let’s make sure we are checking on one another. Times are hard, people are carrying a lot, and sometimes the ones who seem the strongest are the ones struggling in silence.

Stress is real, and not everyone feels comfortable saying when they need help. Check on your strong friends. Check on your family. Check on the person who has been quiet lately. Check on the person you know could use a little pick-me-up, encouragement, or simply someone to listen.

Su***de doesn’t have a color, age, gender, or status. It can affect anyone. A simple phone call, text, hug, or “Are you really okay?” can mean more than you know.

Let’s continue to remind each other that it is okay to ask for help, it is okay to talk about what you are going through, and you do not have to suffer in silence or fight alone.

Help is available 24/7 through the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Call or text 988.

Be kind. Check in. Listen. You never know whose life you may impact. 💜

💜 September is Su***de Prevention Month.

This month, the Youngstown Local Office on Minority Health (YLOMH) reminds our community that checking in, listening, and simply asking “Are you okay?” can make a difference. Know the warning signs, start the conversation, and remember—you don’t have to be a professional to show someone you care.

📞 Help is available 24/7. Call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Our September newsletter also highlights National Campus Safety Awareness Month with tips to help students stay aware, prepared, and connected.
