YSU Maag Library

YSU Maag Library The William F. Maag, Jr. Library serves Youngstown State University and the community. Theres is a branch in the Beeghly College of Education.

The library contains books, study aids, music scores, the University Archives, and many online resources. The Department of Archives & Special Collections of the William F. Library of Youngstown State University serves two distinct functions. Archives serve as the official and final repository for the historical records of Youngstown State University (previously known as Youngstown College) from its establishment in 1908 to the present time. The Special Collections serve as an archival repository for historical materials which are neither official university records nor faculty papers, but which relate to the history and culture of the geographical region of which YSU is a part. This includes the city of Youngstown, the Mahoning County and the Mahoning Valley.

Today marks the 25 anniversary of the deadliest terrorists attacks in American history. 9/11 affected everyone including the YSU campus. The campus closed early that day. A YSU alum, Terry Lynch, was killed in the Pentagon attack. A memorial was dedicated on campus to remember those we lost.

Included are images of The Jambar, the 9/11 memorial which was dedicated in 2002, a Terry Lynch memorial which is part of the 9/11 memorial, and handmade cards given to Terry Lynch's wife, part of the Terry Lynch collection in the YSU Archives and Special Collections.

Happy YSU Day!
To celebrate, here is photo of then-YSU president Albert Pugsley and members of the Circle K student group unveiling the new plaque which depicts "Youngstown State University" on the glacier rock outside of Jones Hall in 1967. Today marked the official day the University became a State funded institution and Youngstown University gained a new middle name and became Youngstown State University.
