Boardman Grocery Outlet's Annual "Independence from Hunger" Campaign is coming up!

owners Eric and Sarah Senges (and of course Wyatt) are once again leading the charge against hunger in our community with their annual Independence from Hunger campaign, benefiting !

From June 24 through July 31, you can donate $5 at checkout and receive a $5 coupon toward your next purchase of $25 or more.

At the conclusion of the campaign, Grocery Outlet will use 100% of the funds raised to purchase food items specifically needed by the Rescue Mission. Isn't that cool?

Last year, the generosity of Grocery Outlet customers raised more than $5,000 to help provide meals for those facing hunger. This year, Grocery Outlet has set an ambitious goal of $10,000 and is encouraging local businesses and community members to join the effort. Thanks to everyone helping to provide Independence from Hunger!

When Boardman Grocery Outlet donates drumsticks and thighs, and the weather is this beautiful, it's the perfect day to fire up the grill!

Because of God's provision through the generosity of our donors, our guests are blessed with delicious, nourishing meals every day. A special thank-you to Boardman Grocery Outlet for helping make today's lunch extra special for those experiencing hunger in our community.

We are grateful for your partnership and support in serving our neighbors with dignity, hope, and a great meal.

June Big Bag Collection UPDATE: This donation arrived today!

At the Mission contractor bags are used for everything from clean- up projects around the grounds to serving as luggage in a pinch for someone leaving the shelter and moving on to a new start!

Mesh laundry bags are also extremely helpful for keeping laundry sorted and organized as clients wait their turns to use our washing machines and dryers.

Little things. But big impact. Our volunteer Donna sent these things to us when she noticed our Big Bag Collection drive! Thanks so much!

Currently collecting: Contractor bags, tall kitchen bags, mesh laundry bags, sandwich & freezer bags of all sizes, lunch bags... hey we will even put bags of snacks to good use this month! It is a Big Bag Collection after all!

Why Bags Matter More Than You Think

At first glance, a box of trash bags or a package of sandwich bags may seem like a simple donation—but at the Rescue Mission, these everyday items play an important role in serving our guests with dignity and care.

🛍️ Storage bags help us organize and distribute food, hygiene products, and other essential supplies.

🥪 Sandwich and freezer bags are used in meal preparation and packing lunches for our working guests

🧺 Laundry bags help guests transport and keep track of their belongings when they do their laundry at the shelter.

🗑️ Trash can liners and contractor bags are essential for maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming facilities for everyone we serve. Sometimes, they are all we are able to provide for someone to move their belongings out of the Mission.

🎒 Backpacks and small rolling luggage provide individuals experiencing homelessness with a secure way to carry their personal belongings as they work toward stability and move on from the mission.

Every bag donated helps us meet practical needs, operate efficiently, and show compassion in tangible ways. That's why our June Big Bag Collection is so important!
