There’s a place for you to serve at the Rescue Mission! ❤️

Every week, churches, businesses, community groups, and individuals give their time to serve our residents, and we are so thankful for each person who chooses to give back.

There are many ways to volunteer, whether you’re looking for a hands-on opportunity or something a little more behind the scenes:

• Serve meals to our residents
• Help with special events and group service projects
• Assist with cleaning, organizing, or other projects around the Mission
• Help our Development Team with projects like shredding, sorting, or stuffing envelopes
• Serve in our Learning Center by helping residents with job applications, resumes, Social Security and benefits applications, and other important steps toward independence
• Share your skills, talents, or expertise in a way that can benefit our residents and our ministry

You don’t have to have a lot of time or a special skill to make a difference. Sometimes, simply showing up and serving is a powerful way to share the love of Christ with someone who needs hope.

We are so grateful to Austintown Community Church for donating the food they had remaining after their time at the Canfield Fair. They filled our van with an incredible amount of food that will help provide meals for our residents here at the Rescue Mission.

What a wonderful example of turning an abundance into an opportunity to bless others! We’re thankful for their generosity and for the way they continue to serve our community.

Thank you, Austintown Community Church, for helping make sure good food doesn’t go to waste and instead becomes a blessing to those in need.

Myth: “Homelessness is caused by one bad decision.”

Truth: Homelessness is rarely that simple. For many people, it is the result of multiple circumstances and challenges that build upon one another.

A job loss. An unexpected expense. A family crisis. Rising housing costs. A lack of support. Sometimes, it’s a combination of several difficult circumstances.

Behind every person experiencing homelessness is a story—and that story is often much more complex than we can see from the outside.

At the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, we meet people from all walks of life. We believe every person deserves to be seen with compassion, treated with dignity, and reminded that their current circumstances do not have to be the end of their story.

💙 Let’s replace assumptions with understanding and judgment with compassion.

Today, we’re grateful for the hard work and dedication of the people who keep our communities moving forward—from our staff and volunteers to the many individuals who faithfully serve others each day.

We’re also thankful for the opportunity to walk alongside men, women, and families as they work toward new beginnings, stability, and hope.

May you have a safe and restful Labor Day, and may we never forget the value of a day’s work and the dignity that comes with it.

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” — Colossians 3:23 🙏

SUNDAY HOPE ☀️

Circumstances change. Seasons change. But God never does.

His goodness remains.
His mercy remains.
His truth remains.
His faithfulness remains.

“For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” — Psalm 100:5

Whatever this week brings, remember: God is still good. 🙏
