The Youngstown Municipal Courthouse will be closed tomorrow, 1/22/25, due to a malfunction in the building’s heating system. As a result, all court cases scheduled for tomorrow will be rescheduled.

All individuals with scheduled hearings are asked not to report to the courthouse. Affected parties will be notified of new court dates as soon as they are available. We are working diligently to address the heating issue and ensure a timely reopening.

Every Friday in October the staff of Youngstown Municipal Court dress down and wear pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each staff member who participates donates $5 each week to Joanie Abdu Breast Cancer Center. So thankful for this team that believes in supporting our community!

In observance of Labor Day, the Youngstown Municipal Court will be closed on 9/2/24. The court will reopen on 9/3/24 at 8:00 am.

The Youngstown Municipal Courthouse will be closed for the remainder of today, 6/14/24. The court will reopen to the public on 6/17/24 at 8:00 AM.

On 4/8/24, a rare solar eclipse will pass through the Mahoning Valley. Having considered the expressed warnings and safety concerns, the Youngstown Municipal Court has determined that the best course of action is to restrict access to the courthouse on Monday, 4/8/24.

The Youngstown Municipal Courthouse will be closed to the public at noon on 4/8/24. Video arraignments will be held at 10:30 am on 4/8/24. It should be noted that no hearings were previously scheduled or will be scheduled during the closure. The court will re-open to the public on Tuesday, 4/9/24 at 8:00 am.

We are thrilled to announce that two members of our court security team, Officer Alena Limperos and Officer Bruce Simeone have successfully completed Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training.

What is CIT Training?

CIT training is an essential program that equips law enforcement officers with the skills and knowledge to respond effectively to individuals in crisis, particularly those experiencing mental health challenges or other behavioral crises. This training empowers our officers to de-escalate situations, provide appropriate support, and connect individuals in crisis with the help they need.

By completing CIT training, Officer Limperos and Officer Simeone have demonstrated their commitment to improving public safety and their dedication to serving our community with compassion and empathy.

We are immensely proud of their achievement, and we know that their enhanced skills will make a positive difference in our community.
