Hello, February! ❄️🌵

While the rest of the world is focused on chocolate and roses, we’re falling in love with the trails. February is one of the most underrated months to roam the National Parks.

Whether you’re chasing "Firefall" in Yosemite or seeking the first signs of spring in the desert, this month offers a quiet magic you won't find in July.
Where are we roaming this month?

🏔️ Team Winter: Snowshoes, frozen waterfalls, and thermal basins (Yellowstone is a dream right now).

☀️ Team Sunshine: Desert hiking, bird watching, and clear skies (Death Valley and Joshua Tree are calling).

Drop a "❄️" or a "☀️" in the comments to tell us which vibe you’re chasing this month!

Tucked away in the heart of South Carolina, Congaree National Park is one of America’s most unique natural wonders. A vast floodplain forest where time seems to stand still.

This remarkable park preserves the largest intact expanse of old-growth bottomland hardwood forest left in North America. It’s a living reminder of what the southeastern U.S. looked like centuries ago. 🌳

Every year, the Congaree and Wateree Rivers overflow their banks, flooding the forest floor with nutrient-rich water that fuels the park’s incredible biodiversity. Towering bald cypress, water tupelo, sweetgum, and loblolly pine trees reach heights over 160 feet, forming a lush canopy that shelters hundreds of wildlife species.

The park is a haven for barred owls, prothonotary warblers, deer, otters, and even the occasional bobcat. Birdwatchers love it here especially during migration seasons, when the forest comes alive with song. 🐦

You can explore Congaree’s beauty on the 2.4-mile Boardwalk Loop Trail, which winds through the swampy landscape, or venture out by kayak or canoe to glide among cypress knees and mirrored reflections.

Each spring, visitors from around the world gather to witness one of nature’s most enchanting spectacles, the synchronous fireflies. For a few short weeks, thousands of fireflies flash in perfect harmony, lighting up the forest in a breathtaking natural light show found in only a handful of places on Earth. ✨

Recognized as an International Biosphere Reserve, Congaree isn’t just beautiful, it’s vital for flood control, clean air, and preserving ancient ecosystems that once covered millions of acres.

🌿 Congaree reminds us that even in the quietest corners, nature’s wonders still thrive.

Far from the crowds, Great Basin National Park is one of America’s best-kept secrets. A place where desert valleys, alpine forests, and ancient glaciers all meet.

At its heart stands Wheeler Peak, the park’s second-highest summit at 13,063 ft, surrounded by rugged trails and wildflower meadows. Deep beneath it lies the stunning Lehman Caves, filled with shimmering stalactites and rare formations like shield speleothems.

The park is also home to the world’s oldest living trees, the Bristlecone Pines, some over 4,000 years old, quietly surviving in the harsh alpine winds. 🌲

And when the sun goes down, the magic begins, Great Basin has some of the darkest night skies in the continental U.S., earning its International Dark Sky Park designation. Perfect for stargazers and astrophotographers alike. 🌌

You might even spot mule deer, mountain lions, or porcupines on your hikes, while spring and early summer bring brilliant bursts of wildflowers across the mountain slopes.

✨ Great Basin proves that the quietest places often hold the biggest wonders.

They say everything’s bigger in Alaska and nature proves it. 🏔️❄️
This wild northern frontier holds 7 of the 10 largest national parks in the U.S., together covering more land than Switzerland, Austria, and Belgium combined! 🇺🇸🌍

From the towering peaks of Denali to the glacier kingdoms of Wrangell–St. Elias, Alaska’s parks are nature at its grandest scale. 🌋🌲
You’ll find ice fields that stretch beyond the horizon, caribou herds roaming the tundra, and rivers carving valleys untouched by roads or cities.

Here are the seven giants:
🗻 Wrangell–St. Elias National Park – The largest in the U.S., bigger than nine U.S. states!
🌌 Gates of the Arctic National Park – No roads, no trails, just pure wilderness.
🐻 Denali National Park – Home to North America’s tallest peak.
❄️ Katmai National Park – Famous for its brown bears fishing at Brooks Falls.
🌋 Glacier Bay National Park – A living ice world where glaciers meet the sea.
🌲 Lake Clark National Park – A mix of volcanoes, lakes, and wild salmon runs.
🏞️ Kobuk Valley National Park – Where Arctic dunes rise beside frozen rivers.

Alaska isn’t just a destination, it’s an untamed masterpiece. 🌌✨

With eyesight up to eight times sharper than ours, bald eagles can spot prey from over two miles away! 👀🦅
Their vision is so powerful, they can see a fish ripple the water long before we’d notice a splash. 🌊✨

Hidden high in the cliffs of Colorado, an ancient civilization still whispers through stone. 🏺✨
Over 700 years ago, the Ancestral Puebloans built incredible cliff dwellings here, entire villages carved into sandstone walls.

Today, Mesa Verde National Park protects these timeless homes, preserving stories of community, creativity, and survival in one of America’s most sacred landscapes. 🏜️

It’s not just a national park, it’s a window into history. ⏳

Imagine standing 10,000 feet above the clouds, watching the first rays of sunlight paint the sky in gold and pink. 🌅✨
At Haleakalā National Park in Maui, that dream comes true every morning. A sunrise so stunning, Hawaiians call this volcano the “House of the Sun.” 🌺🌄

It’s one of the few places on Earth where you can look down on the clouds and feel the world wake up beneath you. 💫

Five wild islands. Over 2,000 species. 🌿
And more than 150 of them exist nowhere else on Earth! 🌍✨

Often called the “Galápagos of North America,” Channel Islands National Park is a living time capsule , isolated enough for evolution to take its own path. From tiny island foxes 🦊 to bright wildflowers found on no other shore, every inch of these islands tells a story millions of years in the making. 🌊🌸
