Sheriff Montgomery is proud to recognize Master Deputy Jim Cox for successfully completing the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) Trilogy Series.

The Trilogy Series consists of three intensive leadership programs: the Supervisor Leadership Institute, the Command Leadership Institute, and the Executive Leadership Institute. Completion of all three reflects a strong commitment to professional development and leadership excellence.

We commend Master Deputy Cox for his dedication to continuing education and his ongoing efforts to better serve the York-Poquoson community.

We had a pretty impressive visitor land on the front lawn of the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office today!

This beautiful bald eagle hung around long enough for us to grab a few photos—and we couldn’t resist sharing them with you.

Maybe he was checking in on York County. Maybe he heard we’re always looking for a good set of eyes. 👀 Either way, he definitely had our attention!

CONGRATULATIONS, DEPUTY INGERSOLL!

Congratulations to Deputy Connor Ingersoll, who was recognized as Deputy of the Year by Fraternal Order of Eagles #4548!

In his two years with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Ingersoll has established himself as a dedicated and proactive law enforcement professional with a strong commitment to the safety and well-being of our community.

Deputy Ingersoll consistently excels in traffic and DUI enforcement, drug interdiction, and proactive policing. He has also been among the first to respond to several critical incidents, including mental health crises, suicide-related calls, and a recent homicide.

During the homicide response, Deputy Ingersoll was the first deputy to arrive and immediately went to the aid of the victim during an active high-risk situation. He attempted lifesaving measures while providing critical information to responding units. His actions demonstrated courage, composure, and an unwavering commitment to preserving life under extremely stressful circumstances.

Deputy Ingersoll brings that same dedication to work every day. His professionalism, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to go above and beyond make him an outstanding representative of YPSO.

NATIONAL POLICE WOMAN DAY

Today, we celebrate the women of the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office and the many roles they fill in serving and protecting our community.

The women of YPSO serve throughout our agency in Uniform Patrol, Court Security, School Resource Officers, Investigations, Animal Control, K9, the CISM Team, Dive Team, Bike Team, Honor Guard, ERT, Crisis Negotiations, and more. They also serve as R.A.D. instructors, are CIT certified, and take on specialized assignments that require extensive training, dedication, and commitment.

From our schools and courtrooms to our neighborhoods and specialized teams, the women of YPSO make an impact throughout our agency and our community every day.

On National Police Woman Day, we are proud to recognize the women of YPSO and all women serving in law enforcement across our region, the Commonwealth, and the nation. Thank you for your professionalism, leadership, strength, and commitment to the communities you serve.

Today marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation.

We remember the 2,977 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless acts of courage and selflessness that followed. We honor the families who continue to carry the weight of that loss and the heroes whose service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Twenty-five years have passed, but our promise remains the same.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
