Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps Inc.

Our membership is a diverse group of citizens drawn from all walks of life, spanning more than 50 years in age. Our interests and skills are many and varied.

The Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps is a not for profit, Basic Life Support provider, which has been providing Emergency Medical Service to the town of Yorktown since 1963. We are families of one and families of eight, and everything in between. We have grown up and attended schools both locally and internationally. We are certified and licensed in many trades and occupations. Some of us contin

ue to pursue careers or professions...others have retired from one or more careers. We are your friends, co-workers, relatives and neighbors, drawn together by a common interest in providing emergency medical service and a strong desire to give a little back to the community in which we reside.

In 2025, we responded to 1,711 calls with the help of our many volunteers. This includes medical emergencies, automobile accidents, and standbys.

Last weekend Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps celebrated 63 years of Service!! Thank you to everyone for their dedication and thank you for everyone who came to celebrate with us! Congratulations to all the award winners, top member calls and top riding hours!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the parishioners of Calvary Bible Church for their recent visit to the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Your kindness and generosity truly meant a great deal to our members. We were incredibly touched by the number of parishioners and children who came by, as well as the thoughtful homemade thank-you cards, delicious hot meal trays, and desserts that our crews will continue to enjoy in the days ahead.

It was also a pleasure to provide a tour of our ambulances and equipment, and we appreciate your interest in learning more about the services we provide to the community.

Thank you again for your support, generosity, and thoughtfulness. Gestures like yours make a meaningful difference to our volunteers.

During our recent snow emergency on Sunday, January 25th Yorktown Ambulance responded to fifteen Emergency 911 calls for service. Yorktown Ambulance responded throughout the storm and transported these patients to the hospital. YVAC would especially like to thank Dave Paganelli and the Yorktown Highway Department for their partnership. Yorktown Highway coordinated with us on every call to make sure we could safely get to the location and into the house. Special thanks to Pam Hirsch and Landcor for keeping our driveway and parking lot clear of snow throughout the storm.

On Saturday January 10, 2026, Yorktown Ambulance provided a Stand-by crew and ambulance for the 5th Annual Polar Plunge with the Friends of Yorktown Parks & Recreation. The event was held at Sparkle Lake and had a great turnout with participants of all ages. YVAC is happy to report no injuries, and all participants returned home a little bit cooler. Thanks to YHFD Water Rescue Unit & Dive Team for their support in the Lake.

YVAC members and the YVAC Youth Group participated in the 14th annual Yorktown Holiday Electric Lights Parade. Thanks to the Parks and Recreation Department for coordinating this amazing event.

Yorktown Ambulance is very grateful to third grade teachers Keri Velardo and Julianna Gallinelli and their third graders at Brookside Elementary School in Yorktown. Each month the third graders focus on a specific character trait and complete a culminating project that reflects it. For the month of November, their focus is on Gratitude. As part of their "Gratitude Project," students wrote letters of appreciation to Yorktown Ambulance members and assembled a basket of snacks to share.

Yorktown Ambulance members and the Youth Group recently provided EMS Support for the Support Connection's Annual Support-A-Walk in FDR Park.

Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps recently provided standby coverage for the 2025 Yorktown Grange Fair. An ambulance and a crew, as well as the YVAC Youth Group, were present to handle any emergencies. A free blood pressure check was available to all participants.

Yorktown Ambulance members recently participated in the 2025 National Night Out at the Jack DeVito Memorial Field. Yorktown Police and local first responders were on hand to display their equipment and thank the community for their support. An enjoyable evening was had by all.
