As we mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, we pause to remember the lives lost and honor the courage, compassion, and selflessness shown in the midst of tragedy.

We also remember the countless acts of heroism displayed that day and recognize the heroes, both human and canine, whose courage, loyalty, and service helped others in their time of greatest need.

We will never forget.

It was a big day for Guiding Eyes pups Nate, Gayle, and Tony, along with their human namesakes!

Last year, we introduced you to three adorable puppies just beginning their journeys to become Guiding Eyes guide dogs. Today, they’ve recently celebrated their first birthdays and are spending their days learning, growing, and building their skills with their volunteer Puppy Raisers.

Soon, they’ll take the next exciting step in their journeys: formal guide dog training. Nate, Gayle, and Tony recently returned to the CBS Mornings studio in New York City, joined by Guiding Eyes graduate and Vice President of Philanthropy Rebekah Cross.

Dolly Parton was known for the way she sparkled in every part of life: as a gifted songwriter and performer, through her iconic rhinestone-studded style, and most of all, through her extraordinary generosity. 
 
Guiding Eyes was fortunate to experience Dolly’s kindness firsthand on several occasions. She presented Guiding Eyes graduate Kathy Nimmer with the 2016 Chasing Rainbows Award, featured Guiding Eyes pups in Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala on CBS in 2024, and generously supported our mission through her charitable giving.
 
Thank you for sharing your light, your heart, and your generosity with so many. This one’s for you, Dolly. 🤍

This National Dog Day, and as we wrap up National Dog Month, we’re excited to introduce a new series: Good Dogmanship.

Inspired by the concept of “Good Horsemanship,” Good Dogmanship is all about developing the knowledge, awareness, and understanding that comes from truly seeing the individual dog in front of you, whether it’s a dedicated Guiding Eyes guide dog, a playful puppy in our Puppy Program, or a beloved pet!
