Numbers! Here's something you may not know...
Every Court* in SC sends mandatory monthly reports to Court Administration. These reports are then published on the Supreme Court website for the public, because you have a right to know what is going on at the third branch of government (SC Constitution: "All courts shall be public, and every person shall have speedy remedy therein for wrongs sustained, Article 1, Section 9).
The numbers aren't perfect at conveying what the Probate Courts do... for example, they don't tell you how many hearings the judges have had (or how many hours they took!) or how many marriage licenses were issued or how many hours a clerk has spent writing letters to a personal representative or on the phone explaining that a blank Deed of Distibution conveys nothing.
BUT the reports DO give you a good glimpse of the Court's workload in very broad strokes, just like the reports from all the other Courts.
