Able-Services

Able-Services Able-Services is a nonprofit organization providing day program services to adults with special needs. We are part of the Leg Up Farm Family of companies.

Soon after Leg Up Farm opened, the need for services beyond the educational setting was realized, and the idea for Able-Services was born. Located at the Able Training Center, at 3100 North George Street (the former site of Shiloh Nurseries and Brown’s Orchards & Farm Market), we are licensed as an Adult Training Facility by the PA Department of Human Services. Continuing in the fine tradition of

Leg Up Farm, Able-Services provides a culture of caring and welcoming to our program participants, our staff, and visitors. Our on-site commercial greenhouse allows the skills for growing and managing plants to be incorporated into all elements of training and activities. Participants will explore activities of daily living, social skills, communication, leisure/fitness/recreation, nutrition and health, community participation, and self-advocacy. Participants and their families should be in contact with their Supports Coordinator to facilitate the application process for our program. Program participants need to be receiving Consolidated, Community Living, or Personal/Family Directed Support Waiver funding and qualifying for Adult Day Programming services, and able to function in a 1 staff per every 6 program participant ratio. They should be interested in being active, working toward goals, and most of all, having fun!

The group enjoyed a beautiful day getting outside and walking the path at Wildwood Park in Harrisburg! 🌿☀️

From enjoying the fresh air to taking in the scenery, it was a great opportunity to stay active, spend time together, and appreciate the beauty around us. Outings like these are always a wonderful way to relax, connect, and make memories together. ❤️

A group recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit PAR Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for a tour and lunch at their new Harrisburg office! ❤️

During our visit, we presented PAR with a planter from our greenhouse as a small thank you for their hospitality. 🌱 We enjoyed getting a tour of their beautiful new office space and learning more about their organization.

After the tour, we shared lunch together and had great conversations about both ABLE and PAR, the work we do, and the importance of supporting individuals in our communities. It was such a meaningful and enjoyable experience for everyone involved!

Thank you to PAR Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for welcoming us and spending the day with us! 😊
