Honorary Uptown York Rotary Club member Genevieve Ray celebrated the ribbon cutting of Hard Bargains - a permanent art installation recognizing the Continental Congress and Articles of Confederation.

Genevieve and others spent years bringing this amazing gift to the community. Check it out for yourself along the Codorus Creek and read more from the York County History Center.

Congrats, Genevieve!

While all of our service projects are special, yesterday's will live on in history! In celebration of America250PA, Uptown York Rotary Club planted 7 sycamore trees in municipalities across York County PA. These trees are meant to be part of our community for hundreds of years.

What made it even more special, was that we knew friends from Rotary Clubs around York County were doing the exact same thing.

Thanks to the Uptown York Rotary Club members and family who came out to help, and to President Commissioner Julie Wheeler, organizer Bryan Tate who joined us for the planting at Kiwanis Lake, and to Rotary District 7390 District Governor Mary Brunski, and our own David Corman, Assistant District Governor for joining us at Prospect Hill Cemetery and Cremation Gardens and Kiwanis Lake.

One word to describe tonight’s meeting? Delicious!

Mark Millek of Hefty Lefty’s Hoagies & Grinders didn’t set out to create a sandwich that created a viral sensation. He just wanted to do something that made him happy. We heard how he associates hoagies with family, the importance of the right ingredients, and how his signature tuck and roll sets Hefty Lefty’s apart.

A great presentation was topped off with a taste test of some of their most popular sandwiches.

The next time you enjoy one of their hoagies, grinders, or cheesesteaks, think about the story behind the sandwich.
