🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

We recently had a very sharp citizen call us after our official phone number popped up on their caller ID. The person on the other end claimed to be with the York Police Department and wanted the citizen to call a random number to "continue the conversation." Thankfully, this citizen trusted their gut, hung up immediately, and called us directly to verify.

Spoiler alert: It wasn't us. Scammers are getting incredibly good at spoofing local caller IDs, so let's set the record straight on how we actually do business:

💰Did we call you asking for money, gift cards, Bitcoin, or any other currency? Absolutely not. We promise your local police department does not accept Apple gift cards to clear your name.

👮Did we call to claim you have an active warrant? Nope. We like to keep the element of surprise. If you have a warrant, we won't call to chat about it; we’ll just show up in our spiffy uniforms with a pair of special bracelets for you.

👨‍⚖️Did we call to tell you that you missed jury duty? Definitely not. You’ll receive a formal love note directly from the Municipal Court in the mail for that.

📱If you are ever on the phone and feel unsure if you are talking to a real police officer, hang up immediately and call us back at our verified number: (803) 684-4141.

🚓Better yet, if you're still suspicious, come on down to the police department and see us in person. We love meeting new people!

Stay safe out there, York.

🚨 COMMUNITY SAFETY ALERT & CALL FOR FOOTAGE 🚨
Last night, officers responded to multiple reports of vehicles being ransacked in our area. In every instance, the targeted vehicles were left unlocked.

Thieves made off with a variety of items, including money and sunglasses, but most alarmingly, a firearm was also stolen.

📹 CHECK YOUR CAMERAS:
If you live in or around the area of Ross Cannon Street and Fifth Street, we need your help! Please review your home security and doorbell cameras for any suspicious activity from last night. If you spot anything unusual or have any footage that could help with our investigation, please call us immediately to share it.

Please remember these critical safety measures:

Lock Your Vehicles: Never leave your cars unlocked, even if they are parked right in your own driveway. Thieves are always patrolling for easy, low-effort targets, and an unlocked door is an open invitation.

Secure All Fi****ms: Never leave a firearm unattended anywhere, especially in a vehicle. A stolen weapon in the wrong hands can quickly lead to tragedies of unknown proportions. Always bring your fi****ms indoors and store them securely.

Remove Valuables: Take your cash, bags, sunglasses, and electronics inside with you every night.

Let’s work together to look out for one another and remove the opportunity for crime in our neighborhoods. Please share this post with your neighbors, check your cameras, and report any suspicious activity! 🚓🛡️

☕️✨ Storybook Magic at the Roastery! ✨☕️

Something truly magical brewed this morning at the York Coffee Roastery, and it wasn’t just the espresso! Our local heroes traded in their daily gear for storybooks, and the children of our community were absolutely captivated from the very first page.

A massive shoutout to Lt. Edwards 👮‍♂️, who served up a delightfully silly, rhyming feast with the classic "Green Eggs and Ham", and City of York Fire Department, SC Firefighter Bryce, who took our little ones on a colorful, out-of-the-box adventure to discover exactly what happens "If Carson Parker Had a Marker"! 🚒🚓

The room was filled with wide eyes, joyous giggles, and soaring imaginations. But hold onto your bookmarks, because the fun doesn't stop here!

Next Thursday at 10:00 AM, SRO Bell will be taking the storyteller's chair! 📖 What wild and wonderful tale will be read? Well... our lips are sealed! 🤫 You’ll just have to show up to find out. Who knows what next week will bring!

Gather your little dreamers, grab a cozy drink, and we will see you there for our next great adventure!

🥣 CRUNCH TIME! An Epic Tale of Cereal Proportions! 🥣

The spoons were drawn, the milk was poured, and the stakes were incredibly high at Piedmont Medical Network’s Healthy over Hungry cereal eating contest!

Our very own cereal-slaying champions, Lt. Edwards and Lt. Bailey, stepped up to the bowl to defend our honor, and what a magnificent saga it was:

🩺 Round 1: The dynamic duo faced off against a team of surgeons. Medical precision was simply no match for our guys, who crunched their way to a breezy, effortless victory!

🧠 Round 2: Next up, the wonderful mental health counselors from NAMI. It was a grueling, milk-splattered battle. Lt. Edwards and Lt. Bailey emerged victorious, though it was a true pyrrhic victory that tested their very souls (and stomach capacities).

🚔 The Final Boss: In the ultimate championship showdown, they clashed with the Rock Hill South Carolina Police Department. It was a neck-and-neck, bite-for-bite thriller! The crunching ceased, and the judges deliberated for what felt like hours. In the end, Rock Hill PD edged out a win by the absolute narrowest of margins. 🥈

🏆 The Real Winners
While we might not have taken the crown, the true champions are the citizens of York County! All the cereal donated from this epic event will go straight to filling the Pilgrims' Inn food pantry.

Last year, this amazing drive brought in enough food to last nine entire months. This year, we are dreaming even bigger and hoping to completely crush that record! 📈

🤝 How YOU Can Help
Want to join the fight against hunger? Here is your mission:

📦 Drop off a box: Bring a box of your favorite cereal to the police department and drop it in the collection box right in the lobby.

✨ Do even more: If you're feeling extra generous and are interested in donating more than just cereal, stop on by and see Lt. Edwards or Lt. Bailey for more information!

Get all your cereal donations in by Friday, June 12!

Let’s make sure no bowl goes empty in York County! 🥣💙

🔥 THE REMATCH OF THE CENTURY JUST DROPPED! 🔥

As promised, we have the official footage from yesterday’s absolute showdown at the Youth Summer Camp Dance Competition, and let’s just say… things got heated. 😳💃

In one corner, we had the undeniable talent and rhythm of the Carolina Girls (our amazing campers). 👑✨

In the other corner… Pierre King & the Mid-Shift Crisis Dancers (our brave, yet questionable, School Resource Officers). 👮‍♂️🕺

The battle was fierce. The energy was electric. But it wouldn’t be a true summer camp showdown without a little drama! The competition was so rife with controversy that Captain Hoffman had to step onto the floor and make a final executive call. 🛑📋

Did justice prevail? Was the right decision made? Or is this just a repeat of "Skategate" from the 2002 Olympics?

👇 WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW AND YOU DECIDE! 👇

Drop your scores, your thoughts, and your unfiltered judgements in the comments. Let's hear it! 📣🍿

What an Epic Finale to Youth Summer Camp! 🚁🐾🍕

After an incredible week of learning the ins and outs of public safety, we sent our campers off in absolute style today! The lineup for our last day was nothing short of action-packed.

Here is a look at how we wrapped up an unforgettable week:

Helicopter Touchdown: In true Superman fashion, the crew from Meducare 3 - Lancaster, South Carolina stuck a perfectly precise landing right on our softball field! Campers got an up-close look as the pilot, flight nurse, and flight paramedic explained how they transport critically injured patients to the nearest medical facility in record time.

CSI in Real Life: Next up, evidence collection specialists from the FBI stopped by! Our junior detectives learned the science behind shoe impressions, fingerprints, and exactly how forensics officers collect crucial evidence to track down suspects.

Paws and Patrols: We had a very special, furry guest to cap off our demonstrations! Campers got to personally meet K-9 Pepper and her handler from the York County Sheriff's Office. We learned all about Pepper’s heroic role in capturing fleeing suspects, and she loved all the attention from the kids.

Pizza Fuel: A massive shoutout and thank you to Sharon Grill for fueling our afternoon by providing delicious Domino's Pizza for lunch!

The Grand Finale 🕺💃
To top off the day, we held the moment everyone has been waiting for: the highly anticipated rematch of last year's epic dance competition between our campers and the SROs! Who took home the trophy this year? You will have to wait and see...

Stay tuned! The official dance-off video will be dropping later, and you definitely will not want to miss these moves!

Thank you to all of our amazing agency partners, staff, and most importantly, our campers for making this week such a massive success. See you all next year!

WOW! What an action-packed day at Youth Summer Camp! 🤩🚓🔥

Our campers had an unforgettable time getting up close and personal with some of our community’s everyday heroes! Here’s a look at what we got into today:

🎯 SWAT & Sniper Operations: First up, our very own Sgt. O'Neal gave the kids an exclusive look into the world of our SWAT team. He explained his specialized role as a sniper, showed off his rifle, and answered some fantastic questions from the campers about why SWAT is so crucial for keeping our community safe.

🧪 Haz Mat Hands-On: Next, York County Office of Emergency Management rolled in with the Haz Mat truck! 🚛 Campers learned all about the high-tech gear used to contain hazardous spills. The best part? They got real hands-on experience using a thermal camera and even tried on actual Tyvek suits and SCBA equipment! 👨‍🔬👩‍🔬

🤖 Bomb Squad Demo: The excitement didn't stop there! The Rock Hill South Carolina Police Department Bomb Squad stepped up to demonstrate their incredible skills, explaining exactly how they respond to and neutralize explosive threats.

🍔 Lunch & Local Gov: After all that action, everyone worked up a serious appetite! A HUGE thank you to Matthew Hickey - York Councilman, District 1 for grilling up delicious hamburgers and cheeseburgers for lunch! While we ate, Councilman Hickey gave an awesome breakdown of how City Council works and how our local government serves the city. 🏛️🤝

We are so proud of these campers for asking such smart questions and learning what it takes to protect and run our amazing city. Thank you to everyone who made today so special! ❤️👇
