York Haven Borough has adopted a new Foreclosure & Vacant Property Ordinance to help protect neighborhoods, maintain property standards, and improve community safety.

All vacant and foreclosed properties within the Borough are required to be registered in accordance with the ordinance. Property owners are responsible for maintaining these properties to prevent blight, safety hazards, and deterioration within our community.

🔥 SUMMER IS HERE & SO IS YORK HAVEN BOROUGH’S NEW OUTDOOR BURNING ORDINANCE 🔥

As we head into backyard fire pit season, York Haven Borough would like to remind residents that a new Outdoor Burning Ordinance is now in effect to help keep our community safe this summer.

The ordinance includes specific setback requirements and allowable fire pit sizes based on property conditions and the type of burning device being used.

Key highlights include:
🔥 Propane/natural gas fire tables and chimineas have minimum setback requirements
🔥 Wood-burning fire pits are permitted only within specific size limits and setback distances
🔥 Larger wood-burning fire pits require greater distances from structures
🔥 Open burning is only permitted on properties greater than one acre
🔥 Only clean, aged/dried wood may be burned
🔥 Burning trash, treated wood, furniture, or construction debris is prohibited
🔥 Fires must remain attended by an adult at all times
🔥 Fires are prohibited during burn bans and poor air quality days

Residents are encouraged to carefully review the ordinance before installing or using any outdoor burning device this summer.

Please always use caution, monitor weather conditions, and keep a hose or fire extinguisher nearby. Let’s work together to keep York Haven safe while enjoying the summer season. ☀️🔥

📍 Borough Council Meeting Location Reminder

Please note that the June 1st York Haven Borough Council meeting will be held at the Susquehanna Fire Hall, located at 100 S. Front St., York Haven.

🕖 Meeting time will remain the same at 7:00 PM.

Council meetings will continue to be held at the Fire Hall through October. Meetings are expected to return to Borough Hall on the second floor beginning thereafter.

The first Fish-for-Free Day in Pennsylvania for 2026 will be Sunday, May 24. 🎣

Fish-for-Free Days allow anyone to legally fish on Pennsylvania waterways with no fishing license required. All other fishing regulations still apply.
