DISOVING PYLAA
Dear Members and Past Members:
Hope all is well with all of you…staying safe and healthy.
Some of you may or may not have been keeping up to date on what’s happening with PYLAA.
These last 2 years have been CRAZY – needless to say!
So here it is in a nutshell – We continued our membership meetings on Zoom during Covid through May 2021 and provided our membership with exceptional demonstrators, membership monthly juried shows, and was also able to successfully hold our Annual High School Student Art Show online and provide our local students with awards and scholarships.
We continued to have challenges with volunteers. We had 4 open positions on the board – president, treasurer, secretary, and 2nd vice president and Walter is still recovering from his stroke. I have been working to recruit a president and additional volunteers to no avail. I did find two people to step in as secretary and treasurer, but we still need a president. Also, there are other obstacles to overcome such as: a meeting room for live meetings (if and when they are allowed) which has been available to PYLAA at no charge for many years. There is a strong possibility this generosity will no longer be available. Another issue is the affordability of providing professional demonstrators.
PYLAA has been around since 1974, bringing art awareness and opportunities for our community. Unfortunately, this will no longer exist through PYLAA. I am taking the necessary steps to dissolve the Association after consulting with the past board members. There are other local associations you may be interested in joining.
GOOD NEWS: We recently received some very exciting news regarding the new Yorba Linda Art Gallery that is being provided by Caduceus Medical Center in conjunction with Yorba Linda Art Alliance. Imagine - an Art Gallery in Yorba Linda! Dreams do come true! Through the generosity of a visionary, Dr. DeNicola and the partnership with Yorba Linda Art Alliance – The community will be able to view and purchase art from local artists.
On that happy note…I wish you all peace, happiness, good health, and that you continue your love of the arts and creativity! I hope to continue the Plein Air Painting when the weather cools and look forward to seeing your smiling faces or masks. :)
ALOHA!
