Celebrating Monica Gayle Day
Today, we proudly honor Monica Gayle, our longest-serving volunteer, whose decades of service have touched countless lives. At our recent Volunteer Brunch, Monica was recognized by elected officials with a special proclamation — October 18 is officially Monica Gayle Day in Yonkers!

The event was a true celebration of impact, inspiration, and community. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Sonia Toledo, shared her personal journey, reminding us of the power of believing in someone and how one person’s support can change the trajectory of a life.

With our hearts full and our community stronger than ever, we’re ready to kick off another year of academic programming — carrying forward the spirit of dedication and love that Monica embodies every day.

It was a pleasure to welcome Seth Diamond, CEO of Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) , to Summer Reading Buddies for the first time!

In October 2024, FSSY entered into an affiliation with WJCS, an exciting partnership that strengthens the services we provide and expands access to vital support for people of all ages and backgrounds.

By combining our strengths in after school programming, geriatric care, behavioral health, substance use services, guardianship, and housing, we’re creating more opportunities, connecting more people to the supports they need, and building a stronger, more resilient community.
