Mrs. Currier sends this classroom update:

We kicked off our Friday cooking activities with Rice Cake Owls! The students had a blast making—and tasting—something new while practicing important functional skills along the way. Our cooking activity focused on sequencing, following directions, peeling, counting, cutting, and spreading. What looks like a fun snack is also a great opportunity to build independence and everyday life skills!

We also had lots of fun practicing our Core Word of the Week: “GO!” Throughout the week, students wrote the word, built it with letter tiles, and practiced using it during meaningful activities. We pushed cars, practicing “STOP” and “GO,” and even ended the week with a STOP/GO dance party! Core words are a foundational part of communication for our students. We work to make these words meaningful by practicing them throughout the day, across different activities, and in ways that are fun and functional.

Last week, Ms. Jahn's class celebrated National Hummingbird Day by making hummingbirds that can actually “fly” on our fingers! The students had a lot of fun creating them and learning a little more about these tiny birds.

Ms. Jahn sends the following report:

We have been learning about Great White Sharks through our Science/Social Studies News. To go along with what we were learning, the students used salt dough to make their own shark teeth. It was a fun hands-on way to connect our classroom activity to our learning about sharks!

Ms. Welch's class has been busy learning about how to take care of our Earth and what types of pollution harm our Earth as well as where pollution comes from. We culminated our science unit by observing how different things pollute water and how that can affect our wildlife such as fish!

Mrs. Hull’s class reports all kinds of fun this Friday!

🎉 Fun Friday was full of fun, movement, and learning! 🎨🏃‍♀️
Our class had a blast tackling our Fun Friday obstacle course while working on important skills along the way! 💪 We practiced our gross motor skills as we jumped, balanced, and moved through the course. We also focused on helpfulness and teamwork by encouraging our friends and lending a helping hand. 🤝💛

To top it all off, we worked on color matching as we made our way through the course! 🌈

Learning is always more fun when we can move, play, and learn together! What a fun way to end the week! ⭐️

Mrs. Cowan sends the following Friday update:

🦈🐋 We’re Making a SPLASH in Science! 🌊 🐋🦈
We officially kicked off our Ocean Creatures unit this month, and our classroom has been full of hands-on learning, exploring, and a LOT of fun!
This week, we dove into the world of Great White Sharks 🦈 and Humpback Whales 🐋 and learned all about their physical features, habitats, diets, dangers, and some pretty amazing adaptations that help them survive in the ocean.

SHARK TEETH!
On Wednesday, our students became little paleontologists and scientists! We made our very own shark teeth using flour, salt, and water. We talked about how Great White Sharks have several rows of teeth and how their teeth are constantly being replaced. Students mixed their ingredients, shaped their teeth, and created their own shark-tooth treasures! 🦷

THE BLUBBER EXPERIMENT!
Today, we learned about one of the coolest adaptations of whales—blubber! Humpback whales have a thick layer of fat called blubber that helps insulate their bodies and keeps them warm in cold ocean water.
To see how blubber works, our students conducted a hands-on “blubber glove” experiment! We surrounded our hands with Crisco (representing the layer of fat/blubber) and then placed our hands into ice-cold water. We compared how the hand protected by the “blubber” felt compared to the hand without it.
It was such a fun way to help our students feel and understand how an animal’s body can be specially designed to survive in its environment!
We’re only one week into our ocean adventure, and we can’t wait to see what we discover next! 🌊🐠🐢🦑🐬🦭
Learning is always more fun when you can touch it, make it, and experience it!

Here’s an update from Mr. Wright’s class:

Today’s pep rally theme was Construction Day! 🚧💙 Our crew came ready with their hard hats, safety gear, and plenty of Bulldog spirit! We had lots of laughs, showed off our school pride, and even had a surprise visitor stop by Secondary 149 to do a little learning with us! 🐿️📚

Another fun Friday with this awesome crew! Go Bulldogs! 🐾💙
