We hope you enjoy this update from Ms. Hanson's class....
🐣✨ Life Cycle of a Chicken – Classroom Experience ✨🐣
We are so excited to share our egg-citing journey with our chicken life cycle study! 🥚➡️🐥
After our first batch didn’t have any luck, we tried again—and we are so glad we did! 💛 The students were able to experience the entire 21-day incubation process from start to finish.
We began on day 1 by learning about the life cycle of a chicken using hands-on figures. Then, we carefully prepped our incubator and took turns placing our eggs inside. 🥚✨
Each day during science, the students eagerly checked in on our eggs—making sure the temperature was just right 🌡️, keeping track of what day we were on 📅, and checking if the incubator needed water 💧.
We candled our eggs on day 7, day 14, and day 18 to observe their progress 🔦🐣:
Day 7: All 12 eggs were viable! 🎉
Day 14: We had 2 viable eggs.
Day 18: Still 2 viable eggs—and we entered lockdown! 🚫 No more turning or opening the incubator.
Then came the big moment…
Day 21: We got to watch a baby chick hatch right before our eyes! 🐥💛 What an unforgettable experience!
On day 23, our chick officially came out of the incubator, and by day 24, students were able to gently touch the chick, watch it eat and drink, and learn even more about how it grows. 🐣🥤🌾
We also discovered on day 24 that our chick is a girl (hen) based on her curvy wing pattern! 🎀🐔
Everyone was so excited to name her…
✨ Welcome, Miss Daisy! ✨
The students had so much fun throughout this lesson. They showed incredible care, curiosity, and pride—always eager to check on Miss Daisy and share her progress with visitors. 🥰📸
A huge thank you to the parent who donated the incubator for our second batch—it made this amazing experience possible! 🙌💛
This was truly a memorable, hands-on learning experience that our class will never forget! 🐣💫
