The City Needs Your Help to Conserve Water!

The City of Yerington and Lyon County Emergency Management want to remind you to conserve water this summer. We still have a well under construction that won’t be delivering drinking water until late summer, and we need to work together to get through this summer without a water system failure. How do we do that? Easy! Just use less water everyday. The first place to start is outside, minimizing the watering of lawns and landscaping. Check for leaks around the house, and water landscaping during cool hours. We are working to reduce park watering as much as possible at the City and with your help we can keep the system running smoothly!

If you see a leak at a City park or facility, please call City Hall at 775-463-3511 and let us know!

La Ciudad de Yerington y el Departamento de Gestión de Emergencias del Condado de Lyon quieren recordarles que conserven agua este verano. Aún tenemos un pozo en construcción que no suministrará agua potable hasta finales del verano, y necesitamos trabajar juntos para que este verano no haya fallas en el sistema de agua. ¿Cómo lo logramos? ¡Fácil! Simplemente use menos agua cada día. El primer paso es en el exterior, minimizando el riego del césped y las áreas verdes. Revise si hay fugas alrededor de la casa y riegue las áreas verdes durante las horas frescas. Estamos trabajando para reducir el riego de los parques de la Ciudad tanto como sea posible y, con su ayuda, ¡podemos mantener el sistema funcionando sin problemas!

JORDAN ROAD WATER OUTAGE - MASON NV

A City of Yerington Public Works water main was damaged today during the installation of power transmission poles on Jordan Road in Mason. Eight homes are without water at this time. Once the repair is completed, residents in the affected area must boil their water prior to consumption until testing is completed to prove the water is safe to drink. Cases of bottled water have been left at the homes impacted.

Apparently, I did not count the puppies properly the first time and there are in fact, six! Ruthie and her puppies have been moved into a room by themselves with a heater and they’re hanging out and doing well.

YMVFD personnel are participating in the Incident Command System (ICS) for Expanding Incidents, ICS300, Training.

This training will consist of 24 hours of classroom and practical exercises to provide training and certification to prepare students to serve as Officers (captains and chiefs) in the future.

We had the opportunity to hold a small event to mark the opening of the new Kiss and Drop facility at Yerington Elementary School on October 7th. Mayor John Garry spoke for the City of Yerington, and Greg Chico spoke for Desert Engineering. Principal Shannon Coombs also offered remarks prior to cutting the ribbon and formally opening this new project.
