The Lowcountry Council of Governments (LCOG) has launced a survey and is accepting public comments on the 2055 Lowcountry Area Transportation Study (LATS) and LCOG Long-Range Transportation Plans (LRTPs) through July 8, 2026.

You’re invited to participate in upcoming public information meetings for the 2055 Lowcountry Area Transportation Study (LATS) and Lowcountry Council of Governments (LCOG) Long-Range Transportation Plans (LRTPs).

The meeting for the LCOG rural region will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lowcountry Council of Governments Office Board Room (634 Campground Road, Yemassee, SC 29945). The meeting for the LATS urban region will take place on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Palmetto Electric Cooperative (1 Cooperative Way, Hardeeville, SC 29927).

Public Open House for the US 278 Corridor Study

The Lowcountry Area Transportation Study is a conducting a corridor study for US 278 form US 17 top Sea Pines.

Please join us to review the recommendations at one the following locations from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM :
- 5/20 at the Hardeeville Recreation Center (285 John Smith Road, Hardeeville, SC)
- 5/21 at the Palmetto Electric Community Center (1 Cooperative Way, Hardeeville, SC)
- 5/28 at the Hilton Head Branch Library (11 Beach City Road, Hilton Head Island, SC)

Presentations will take place starting at 4:10 PM and 5:10 PM.

There will be opportunities to review concept boards and provide input on the recommendations.

• Learn how public input has helped shape the planning process
• Provide feedback before the Hazard Mitigation Plan is finalized for Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper counties
