After more than three decades of dedicated service, we’re celebrating the retirement of a truly remarkable member of our Yelm Police Department family, Donna!

Donna began her career with the City of Yelm in 1991. To put that into perspective, Yelm had a population of around 1,950 people at the time, and just one stoplight in town! Since then, she has witnessed incredible growth and change in our community, serving under 6 mayors and 4 police chiefs along the way. She watched the department move from typewriters to computers, landlines to cellphones and body-worn cameras.

Through it all, Donna has been a constant, bringing professionalism, knowledge, and a deep commitment to serving the Yelm community. Her institutional knowledge and steady presence have made a lasting impact on both the department and the city as a whole.

Please join us in thanking Donna for her 35+ years of service and wishing her all the best in this well-earned next chapter. You will be greatly missed!

Congratulations, Donna!

Rain means slick roads and reduced visibility. Help keep yourself and others safe by slowing down and giving extra space between you and the vehicle ahead. Wet pavement increases stopping distance, so leaving more following distance gives you more time to react.

Also remember: if your wipers are on, your headlights should be on. This helps other drivers see you in rainy conditions.

Take your time, stay alert, and arrive safely.
