PLEASE BE ADVISED: Marion County Road Department will be temporarily closing the area between Highway 125 and MC 4010 on Tuesday, September 8th to replace culvert on MC 4018. The road should be reopened in time for school buses to run.

Good news Marion County!

Judge Stumph has officially lifted the burn ban effective August 24, 2026, following recent rainfall across the area.

What you Need To Know

- Outdoor burning is now allowed-please burn responsibly.
- Remember: burning trash, plastics, tires and treated wood is still prohibited under Arkansas state regulations.
- Always monitor weather conditions, keep fire-control tools nearby, and never leave a fire unattended.

Marion County has issued a countywide burn ban due to extremely dry conditions and increased wildfire risk.
This ban is in place to protect the safety of public 👨‍👩‍👧 & our first responders 🚒👩‍🚒.
Please help keep our community safe by following ALL burn ban requirements:

❌🛢️ No barrel burning
❌🔥 No recreational fires
❌🎆 No fireworks

During our safety meeting this afternoon, we discussed the increasing risk of tick borne illnesses and what to watch for after tick bites. We also learned how to use our new AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators). An explanation of where these are located in all county buildings and live demonstration of how they operate were given.

We have been made aware of a grant or zero-interest loan opportunity for residents living along the Buffalo River watershed for septic update or replacement. This is a great opportunity if your household has an aging septic system or is in need of repair and you live in the program area.

If you are interested in this opportunity, click the link below for more information. This program is funded by Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resource Division.

Don't forget there are permitting requirements in Marion County when placing, replacing, or updating septic systems. Contact the County Assessor's Office for more information.

We provide financial and technical assistance to homeowners in parts of Arkansas to help replace failing septic systems and protect water quality.
