What is important to you?

As we look forward to evaluating candidates for future primaries and elections, it can sometimes be a struggle to answer, "What do progressives care about?" Because we care about a LOT!

‼️We have a working list and want your input‼️

While the list will never be comprehensive, we will do our best to put all the issues together into a survey format where members will be able to rank issues in the order of importance. This will help us to create meaningful candidate questionnaires that focus on the issues that matter to you.

View the current list and add your priorities here:

"Ohio is handing $2.3 billion in corporate welfare to trillion-dollar corporations to build data centers.

At the same time, they’re going after a mom who gets a few bucks to care for her severely disabled daughter.

That’s not fiscal responsibility.

That’s cruelty with a spreadsheet."

While working families in Ohio are barely making ends meet, they must now foot the bill for $2.3 BILLION in tax breaks for data centers.

Google, Meta and Amazon each get sales tax exemptions worth $600 million apiece over 40 years, according to new data obtained by Signal Ohio. The long-term total could be “significantly higher,” officials say.

The First Principles of the ODP Progressive Caucus:

📌 The People’s Government

Every Ohioan must have an equal, accessible voice in self-government, with full transparency and ironclad protections against corruption.

📌 Economic Justice

Our economy must be built from the bottom up—anchored in worker power, community wealth, and a fair tax system that serves all, not the few.

📌 Freedom in Every Zip Code

Every person and every place deserves safety, dignity, and environmental security—from bodily autonomy to clean air, water, and streets.

📌 Solidarity Across Difference

Justice means dismantling systemic racism and exclusion by guaranteeing accessibility, civil rights enforcement, and shared belonging for all.

📌 Evidence in Action

Every policy must stand on what works: data, research, and measurable outcomes, with public accountability built in from the start.

Today, Governor DeWine announced a temporary suspension of the sales tax exemption for data centers. This seems like a positive step in the right direction, but it is not nearly enough. Governor DeWine never should have reinstated this exemption in the first place after it was eliminated in last year’s budget.

Ohioans are tired of a tax system that shifts the burden onto working families while the wealthiest continue to receive special treatment. Our schools, roads, libraries, and public services depend on everyone paying their fair share, and this exemption should be permanently repealed.
