I keep telling everyone this theme may have been the most meaningful to me… of the 38 firings. Traveling to Japan lead to this study, and I am so thankful. We had maybe our best firing and the pots reflect that. Be sure to come out in the next few days. We start at 10 am at 254 Xenia Ave. in YELLOW springs.

Making progress with the set up at the old hardware store. Please make a point to come out , June 1-14, at some point to see this collection. We’re super excited about the firing and the pots. It’s been a beautiful process.

The unloading continues …. Just getting into chamber 2. Things are looking good!

It’s so exciting guys! We’re moving our kiln opening sale location to the old Ys hardware store. This is a temporary pop up sale from June 1-14(but we’ll be there till the end of the month!) please spread the word, tell all your friends… this could be a fun and beautiful display!
The pots coming out of the kiln look really good, and setting up all 101 set shapes is going to be a really fun challenge.

Friday afternoon, made it to the middle of chamber 1. Cone 12 is liquid, but the glazes seem to have held in place… mostly. There’s so many more glazes and shapes that still haven’t made it out of the kiln, so this excitement will last another 4-5 days! Remember everyone… all these pots will be on display and for sale at the old Ys hardware store downtown June 1-14.

Feeling optimistic and exhausted(two late nights witnessing ._paak , and last night was an epic night ) . I am so thankful! This kiln seems to be a really good one… hot, for sure. I’ll keep posting throughout the unloading. I’m excited to see what comes out of the kiln. Remember, we will have our sale at the old … June 1-14.

The kiln is still cooling, and it’s cool enough to start unbricking the door. Things look pretty good, fingers crossed. Our crew did an incredible job this weekend, I am so proud and thankful. We have a lot to do to get ready for the pop up at the old hardware store, downtown yellow springs.

The kids will light the kiln later today, firing number 38. I want to express to the kids the importance of travel as a way to grow and learn. This Mingei themed firing has been an incredible inspiration… and it’s all because of a trip to Japan. I am thankful. Think of us this weekend.

I always tell my customers … most of the steps in the woodfired ceramic process… I can do alone, but starting tomorrow, when the kids, their cousins and friends, come out to light the kiln… that’s the beginning of an incredible process of a collaborative effort in community that is still inspiring to me 30 years into it. I am humbled and thankful for the crew and their efforts. Stay tuned

Slowly working our way through the kiln. Only chamber one left to load… middle and front wall. I love this process, different every time, but the same. Let’s hope for a good firing., fingers crossed
