STREET FAIR VENDOR SPACES are available inside the Yellow Springs Senior Center for Saturday, October 10 from 9 am until 5 pm. Cost is $30 per table for YSSC members / $50 per table for non-members (annual YSSC Membership is $25 for an individual). The Greene County Council on Aging's annual FALL PREVENTION EVENT is on on Thursday, September 10 from 1–3:30 pm at the Xenia Community Center, 1265 W. Second St. Falls are the leading cause of emergency room visits, hospital stays, and deaths for seniors, but they don’t have to be. ART RECEPTION: “The Daily Sketchbook” – Friday, September 4, 5–7 pm – The YS

This exhibit is by members of “The Daily Sketchbook” drawing class at the Senior Center led by Bob Huston. Members of the class have worked independently to produce drawing based on a different theme each week. Class time was used to show, critique, and explore the sketchbook of each member. Ob­serving each individual’s unique interpretation of the weekly theme was the highlight of their time together and offered inspiration for their progress as artists. Some of the themes included: simple machines, clothes, hair, glass, cracks, garden, soft, tools, shadow, splash, round, and vegetation.

The show can be viewed through Nov. 2 during the Center’s open hours Monday–Friday from 9:30 am–4 pm, unless there is a class in the Fireplace Room.

MINDFULNESS WORKSHOP – Mondays, 10–11:30 am, starts Sept. 14 – Lina Landess teaches participants how to use Mindfulness every day to stay focused and move through each day calmer and with purpose on Mondays from 10–11:30 am starting on September 7. Some ways mindfulness may improve one’s day: better focus and attention, less stress and burnout, more awareness and control, and better mood and more energy. Max of 8; $5 fee per person, per class. TRADER JOE’S MONTHLY TRIP – The Senior Center is offering monthly trips to Trader Joe’s on Thursday, Sept. 10 (the 2nd Thursday) from 10 am–12:30 pm. Meet driver Mark Delozier at the John Bryan Center parking lot at 10 am for these monthly grocery outings. Minimum of 5 and max of 11, $5 suggested donation for the transit van.
