🌱 Hi guys!

I just wanted to pop in and share a few photos of my harvest grown from seeds I obtained through our Seed Library. It has been so rewarding to watch these little seeds grow into healthy, productive plants!

I’d love to see how your gardens are doing too. If you’ve grown something from seeds from the Seed Library, or if your heirloom tomato plants have produced, please share your photos with us in the comments under this post or tag us in your own post. Your success stories may inspire someone else to start growing!

As a part of our Summer Library Program we'll be showing movies for little ones throughout the summer! Since we're setup for it, our Mr. Graeber thought adult movie nights might also be of community interest.

We're not sure which times will work best for everyone, so we'll probably try a few different times and days these first few weeks.

The Yazoo County Human Resource Agency has moved from 224 E Broadway, across from the courthouse, to 622 E. Fourth St. at the old Webster Elementary.

If you aren't already familiar you ought to check them out, either for yourselves, or your older family members. They provide excellent services for older folks (60+) - meals, transportation, activities, others - here's a link https://www.yazoocounty.net/human-resources/

📢 Community Voices Heard!

The first Yazoo County and Yazoo City Joint Planning Meeting was a tremendous success! We were excited to see such a strong turnout from community members who came together to discuss important issues affecting our area.

Topics included concerns about education, property management, crime prevention, and community development. Residents had the opportunity to share their thoughts, ask questions, and make their voices heard. Most importantly, plans were developed to begin addressing many of the concerns raised during the meeting.

Positive change happens when communities work together, and this meeting was a great example of what can be accomplished through collaboration and open communication.

We encourage everyone to attend the next meeting and support the efforts of our community leaders as they continue working to make Yazoo County and Yazoo City even stronger places to live, work, and raise a family.

Yazoo County and Yazoo City leadership are having a joint public meeting tomorrow, Thursday June 4th starting at 3:00 PM at the library.

We're happy to see more collaboration! If you have time to stop by, even for a bit, please feel invited.

It will also be a good educational opportunity about how local government works for any little ones who are looking for something to do while school is out. (Probably a little boring, but educational!)

The Yazoo City Municipal School District announces its participation in the federally funded Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Under the SFSP, nutritious meals are provided free of charge to children 18 years and under.

Meals will be provided at a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times as follows:

Woolfolk Middle School
209 West 5th Street, Yazoo City, MS 39194

McCoy Elementary School
1835 School Drive, Yazoo City, MS 39194

Woolfolk will serve breakfast and lunch from June 1, 2026, to July 10, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Friday, these meals are grab and go meals.

McCoy will serve breakfast from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and lunch will be served from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday, these meals are to be consumed in the cafeteria.

Summer Food Service Program closures are as follows:
June 19, 2026 - Juneteenth Holiday
June 29-July 3, 2026 - School District Closed

Legal assistance for seniors (60+) at the library this Thursday around lunch time! - they were here last month and seemed nice, if you have any questions or concerns it might be a good opportunity.

Community forum to meet the candidates for police chief this Saturday at Mt. Vernon M.B. Church starting at 3:00 PM

We're still trying to find a good way to share events community members tell us they care about without getting spam-y. Maybe a weekly or twice monthly round up like this? We're taking suggestions!
